Maulana threatens to cut hands & gouge eyes, Muslim mob chants ‘Sar Tan se Juda’ – all in presence of secular state’s police

Muslim mobs and Maulanas issuing death threats to Hindus for so-called blasphemy under the secular state has become a regular feature. In a stark reminder of the ‘sar tan se juda’ rally asking for Dasna Devi Mandir Mahant Swami Narsinghanand to be beheaded for his alleged blasphemous comments on Mohammed, two instances of Muslim extremism has come to the fore.

In the first instance, Muslim leader Maulana Mufti Nadeem openly threatened Hindus that too in the presence of the police in Rajasthan’s Bundi. “We will go against the law to act against those who indulge in blasphemy. I’m issuing an open threat and not making any request. When we Muslims react, we will make sure the person has nowhere to hide. We know to take revenge.”, the Maulana is heard saying in Hindi.

He further threatened to cut off the tongue, hand, or fingers and gouge out the eyes of those who spoke against Mohammed. Despite these open threats, the police in Congress-ruled Rajasthan were merely mute spectators. When the secular state fails to act against such Maulanas, it directly encourages radical Islamists.

The second instance of such radical Islam came from Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, coincidentally one of the holy pilgrimage sites of Hindus. Here too police were present when ‘gustakhe nabi ki ek saja, sar tan se juda’ (insult of Mohammed will be avenged by beheading) slogan was raised.

Such radicalism is further normalized when the state fails to act against the instigators. It can’t be emphasized enough that the iron-grip of mullahs and maulvis on the Muslim society is the main cause behind such radicalization. Which country would tolerate such open threats against a ‘majority community’ member only because he/she raised some valid questions? No wonder, a 10-year-old raises slogans against non-Muslims without any qualms?

It is people like Maulana Mufti Nadeem (& there are numerous maulvis like him) who should be accountable for killings like that of Kamlesh Tiwari. But it is probably too much to expect from the state that believes secularism means minority appeasement.

  1. How can the Mullahs & Maulvis dare to declare such a horrendous Fatwa based on blasphemy? It is not at all justifiable that everybody should essentially subscribe to Islamic ideologies. But the Maulvis and the Mullahs using death threats, want to send a chilling message to non-Muslims that it is time to convert to Islams. How can in secular India, any regious group/sect issue Death Sentence and violent torture? This occurs because of soft stance of the state & central Govts. In Israel, the Maulvis & Mullahs cannot issue such a Farman (Fatwa) because of strong action from the Govt. which operates on the dictum: If you find your enemy is approaching, wake up. Kill him, before he kills you. Because of dreaded police and miltary actions the Palestinians and neighboring Muslim states are afraid of inciting the Muslim mob to resort to violence.
