Kollam BJP candidate G Krishnakumar accuses SFI of fascism

Are local communists using the Students Federation of India (SFI) goons to implement fascism in Kerala? They resorted to hooliganism against BJP candidate actor G Krishnakumar while campaigning. They also physically assaulted him and his followers.

SFI violence happened when the Lok Sabha candidate reached Government ITI Chandanathope, Kollam, requesting votes. Krishnakumar and his team of NDA workers reached the campus in the morning as part of his election campaign. However, after they entered the campus, the SFI cadre stopped them and asked them to vacate the premises. But Krishnakumar and the BJP workers refused to back down.

After reaching the college, SFI workers stopped him while he was delivering a speech on stage, and the SFI goons also tried to assault them. Meanwhile, ABVP activists came to defend the candidate, which led to a conflict on the campus. The dispute was resolved after the police reached the campus and pacified both sections.

Krishnakumar visited many places and requested votes, but this was his first violent experience. Earlier, opposing candidates actor Mukesh Madhavan (Kollam sitting CPM MLA) and NK Premachandran (Kollam sitting MP from the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) had reached the campus seeking votes. RSP is a Congress ally. Those candidates did not have to endure such an experience.

When Krishnakumar reached the campus, some SFI goons blocked the road and shouted that Narendra Modi’s candidate was not allowed inside the college. After the incident, Krishnakumar responded that what was happening there was real fascism.

“Some say that fascism exists in Uttar Pradesh. What is happening here? This is real fascism. Everyone can go there and start new industries. Che Guevara from some country is welcome here, but a Bharatiya like me is not? You are blocking Narendra Modi’s candidate, who has pledged to develop this country.”

“I want to tell the children this is the time and place to study. Parents are struggling to send you to college. If there is a police case, you will not even get a passport. Your life will be ruined. Someone was hit in the eye. If something had happened……,” Krishnakumar responded.

Krishnakumar said that nothing can be achieved through violent politics. “They (the opposition) fear failure, which should not be countered with conflict. I am not afraid, and I will not run away.”

“All three of us candidates sat together and had our breakfast. Do you college students have a problem that we don’t have? Who is instigating you? I plan to implement Modi’s development projects in Kollam. I am 55 years old and have also studied up to MA. I was never afraid. Pinarayi Vijayan should pay attention to this,” added Krishnakumar.

Krishnakumar became the NDA Kollam candidate after the fifth phase of BJP candidates was released on Sunday. The BJP national leadership chose Krishnakumar to represent the NDA in Kollam. Krishnakumar is also a member of the BJP state committee. In the last assembly election, Krishnakumar was the BJP candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram constituency.

Recent developments in Kerala show that the ruling communist regime has given its student wing a free hand to unleash violence and anarchy on campuses across the state. CPM leaders have openly and covertly protected the violent ones. These unruly elements have the backing of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) cadre, the communist quasi-militant group and the party leadership.
