Security scenario in Kashmir: Pre & Post abrogation of Article 370.
Since 05th August 2019 (abrogation of Article 370), Kashmir has witnessed an unprecedented era of peace, progress, and prosperity. It is submitted that life has returned to normalcy in the region after over three decades of turmoil.
•NOT a single civilian was killed in Law & Order incidents since the abrogation of Article 370 (05 Aug 2019) in Kashmir.
•The organised stone pelting incidents connected with terrorism-separatist agenda, which were as high as 1,767 in the year 2018 have come down to zero in the year 2023 till date.
•In 2018, there were 52 incidents of organised bandh/hartal, which has come down to zero in 2023 till date.
•Anti-terror actions have resulted in dismantling of the terror eco-system which is reflected in a significant drop in terrorist recruitment from 187 (locals) in the year 2018 to 07 (locals) in the year 2023 till date.
•In 2018, there were 68 incidents of Internet shutdowns, which has also come down to zero in the year 2023 till date.
•However, 110 civilians and 174 security forces were killed in terror incidents since abrogation of Article 370 till 04 August 2022 and since last one year (05 Aug 2022 to 04 Aug 2023) 11 civilians & 3 security forces were killed in terror incidents till date.

Economic growth after the abrogation of Article 370
After witnessing decades of violence, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed tremendous changes in economic activities after the abrogation of Article 370.
The scrapping of Article 370 in J&K has ushered new era in economic development in the region and promoted a sense of participation among the local population. The increase in investment and infrastructure has resulted in increase in the employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of J&K.
In the last two years, J&K has received 5,372 investment proposals worth Rs.70,000 crore of which proposals worth Rs. 24,000 crore from more than 1,800 companies have been approved. After the introduction of J&K Industrial Policy 2021, investment worth Rs.1924.64 crore (Rs.376.76 crore in 2021-22 and Rs.1547.88 crore in 2022-23 – up to January 2023) has been initiated. The investment during the current financial year is the highest ever.
Historic budget to rebuild Jammu & Kashmir’s economy
The Government of India allocates Rs. 1,18,500 crore budget for J&K for the financial year 2023-24, with a special focus on employment generation, women empowerment, and social inclusion.
