In a stunning and a bizzare turn of events, the Indian National Congress has invited the Pakistani stooges for talks. It is ironic that the likes of Yasin Malik, Geelani and Mirwaiz, whose Pakistani links stand exposed by the NIA, would be sitting alongside the party which led the freedom struggle.
These stooges of Pakistan who have been funding and fuelling terror in Kashmir for the last three decades at the behest of Pakistan are being embraced by the main opposition party which has ruled this country for six decades.
The current government had the spunk to take on the separatists and expose their financial nexus with Pakistan and the ISI, and now when the NIA is tightening the noose on these perpetrators of terror, the Congress party in a major disservice to the country has invited these stooges of Pakistan for a dialogue.
One cannot comprehend the ludicrous thinking behind the Congress move to invite the Hurriyat for talks at a time when the current government, after all these decades of toothlessness, has cracked down on the anti-national activities of the Hurriyat and recovered large sums of illegal money from them and their henchmen – money laundered via the hawala route that was being used to foment and fuel terror in the valley.
The separatists have been living a life of opulence and grandeur in Kashmir while their fellow Kashmiris whom they claim to represent and fight for, are having a hard time making two ends meet. The Hurriyat has been enjoying political patronage for three decades from the State & Central Governments who have turned a blind eye to their anti-national activities, and now finally when the current government has shown the resolve to bring these separatists to book, the Congress has extended an olive branch to these traitors and terrorists who have been wrecking havoc on Kashmiris.
Congress has been seldom out of power in the country and their frustration and helplessness at being out of the power corridors is obvious, but their Modi bashing should not obscure their thought process to the extent that they start initiating a dialogue with anti-national outfits like the Hurriyat who are a threat to national security and are responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent citizens, including the Kashmiri Pandits, and our brave soldiers.
It has been proven beyond doubt that Yasin Malik, Chairman of JKLF – a terror organization which ‘renounced’ terror in 1994, had ordered the killing of Kashmiri Pandits in cold blood which lead to their mass exodus from the valley in 1989/90; an episode which was nothing short of ethnic cleansing.
The continued political patronage received by these separatists emboldened them further and made them hubs of terror. If the Congress government along with it’s alliance partner, the National Conference, had acted tough on these separatists, things would not have come to such a pass in Kashmir.
Now, when the National Investigating Agency (NIA) after due diligence has laid threadbare the terror financing of the Hurriyat, and its hand-in-glove involvement with Pakistan is an open secret, the Congress party’s move to invite these terrorists for talks is baffling and manifests the hollowness of its thinking and bankruptcy of intellect within its hierarchy.
If the Congress goes ahead with its proposed tete-a-tete with the Hurriyat at a time when the NIA is on the verge of putting them behind bars for treason and sedition, it will reflect poorly on the Congress leadership apart from putting a question mark on its priorities.
The leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, who happens to come from J&K and has been the Chief Minister of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, owes an answer to Bharat as to whether his priority is with the country or with those separatists who are out to sabotage the country’s interests.
