Today, the Kerala Chief Minister arrived in the US for the Loka Kerala Sabha (World Kerala Meet). Despite being staunch critics of capitalism and the US, the Communists make it a point to use every opportunity to visit the nation.
The accompanying photo gives the impression of a family tour as well. The Communists claim that Kerala has the best medical facilities in the nation, yet when the CM or any minister falls ill, they consistently opt to fly to the US for treatment.
Among other planned activities, the CM intends to visit and understand Maryland’s waste management systems (Kerala’s waste management system is practically non-existent) This also reminds me of his visit to the Netherlands in May 2019, where he aimed to understand the Dutch model for mitigating floods. However, Kerala experienced floods in 2019, 2020, and faced severe problems during the rainy seasons of 2021 and 2022 as well. It’s unclear what they learned from that visit using taxpayers’ money.
Apparently, he also plans to meet business leaders to attract investments. This at a time, when businesses are regularly moving out of Kerala due to an investor unfriendly climate. And on his way back, he intends to be in Dubai on June 17th.
