Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan courted controversy after claiming Bharat’s defeat on Day 1 of Operation Sindoor. He has not only insulted the Bharatiya Armed Forces, through his statement & subsequent defiance to apologize, but also proved beyond doubt (if anyone had any) that Congress is always in bed with Bharat’s enemies, be it Pakistan or China.
The Congress party has once again drawn sharp criticism for remarks by senior leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan regarding Bharat’s recent military action, Operation Sindoor. Chavan alleged that Bharat suffered a decisive defeat in an early aerial engagement with Pakistan, claiming that Bharatiya aircraft were shot down and that the Indian Air Force was forced to ground its fleet due to the risk posed by Pakistani defenses. His statements echoed claims long circulated by Pakistan and were delivered with a confidence that mirrored official Pakistani narratives.
Prithviraj Chavan parrots Pakistan’s lines
Senior Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has stirred a major political controversy with his comments on Operation Sindoor, refusing to retract or apologise for them despite fierce criticism from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other political figures.
At a press interaction in Pune, Chavan asserted that Bharat was “completely defeated on the first day” of Operation Sindoor, claiming that Bharatiya Air Force aircraft were shot down and that the Air Force had been effectively grounded during the earliest stages of the engagement. He also questioned the traditional role of the army in modern warfare, suggesting that future conflicts would be dominated by aerial and missile combat rather than ground operations.
When pressed on calls for an apology, Chavan remained defiant, saying categorically that he had “nothing to apologise for” and that the Constitution provides him the right to question government and military actions. He dismissed the idea of retraction as “out of the question.” Chavan hiding behind the Constitution is a textbook Congress template.
The BJP reacted sharply to Chavan’s comments, launching a strong offensive. BJP leaders described Chavan’s statements as insulting to the Bharatiya military and damaging to national morale. They argued that insinuating defeat undermines the sacrifices and capabilities of the armed forces. Some BJP representatives went further, saying Chavan’s remarks echoed narratives propagated by Pakistan.
Senior BJP figures extended criticism beyond Chavan, accusing the broader Congress leadership of failing to distance itself from comments seen as unfavourable to Bharat’s military reputation. BJP spokespersons have publicly demanded action against Chavan and rightly highlighted that the controversy is symptomatic of the Congress party’s supposed anti-army mindset.
Facing mounting backlash, some figures within the Congress sought to temper the controversy by distancing themselves from Chavan’s remarks. A few party MPs emphasised the Congress’s ‘respect’ for the armed forces and affirmed support for Bharat’s fight against terrorism, drawing a line between Chavan’s personal comments and broader party positions. Despite these clarifications, Chavan himself stood firm and reiterated that he would not apologise.
Operation Sindoor was launched by Bharat in May in response to a deadly terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam, in which Hindus were specifically targeted and killed. The operation involved air and missile strikes against terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and in Pakistan-administered territory. Bharatiya forces achieved significant tactical success, including targeting enemy aircraft and radar installations.
Anti-Hindu & Anti-Bharat Congress
Chavan further questioned the need for maintaining a large standing army of around 12 lakh personnel, suggesting that future wars would be limited to aerial and missile engagements. Critics argued that such comments undermine the role of Bharat’s armed forces and dangerously oversimplify modern warfare, especially in a country facing persistent cross-border terrorism and multiple security threats.
Chavan’s anti-Bharat remarks are not accidental. These remarks come despite official clarifications from Bharat’s defence authorities, which categorically stated that all strikes during Operation Sindoor were executed without any loss of Bharatiya assets. All these remarks are carefully made to demoralize Bharatiya Defence Forces while using the facade of targeting the political establishment.
Adding to the controversy, a recent report by a United States commission highlighted that China had allegedly orchestrated a disinformation campaign using artificial intelligence-generated visuals to falsely depict downed Indian Rafale jets, aiming to damage France’s aircraft sales while promoting Chinese alternatives. Pakistan, heavily reliant on Chinese military hardware, has repeatedly amplified these claims.
At the same time, it is hard to forget the secret pact Rahul Gandhi signed with China. Chavan is actually speaking on behalf of Gandhi who is a puppet of the Chinese and therefore, a spokesperson of Pakistan.
The controversy is not isolated. Several Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy, Manickam Tagore, and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, have previously questioned the government’s claims regarding military operations, including allegations of Rafale losses—claims officially denied by defence authorities. Some leaders accused the government of withholding information, while others alleged impropriety in diplomatic communications with Pakistan.
It is hardly a hidden fact that Congress has repeatedly mirrored Pakistani talking points, from questioning the Balakot airstrikes and the Pulwama attack to politicizing the UN designation of Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. Past remarks by leaders such as Digvijay Singh, who made controversial statements involving Pakistan’s intelligence agency, are proof of Congress’ pro-Pakistan and anti-Bharat stance.
Chavan and the Congress are not just anti-Bharat but also anti-Hindu. This August, Prithviraj Chavan coined the term ‘Sanatani Terrorism’ after the Congress ploy of ‘Hindu terrorism’ failed miserably. After a special NIA court acquitted all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case, former Maharashtra CM and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan sparked controversy with his remarks. He rejected the use of the term ‘saffron terror,’ arguing that saffron holds deep cultural and spiritual significance in Maharashtra, representing figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and saints such as Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar. Instead, he suggested using terms like ‘Hindu terrorism’ or ‘Sanatani terrorism.’
We need Congress Mukt Bharat
Anti-Hindu Congress is modern-day Muslim League that is trying its best to divide Hindu Samaj for its selfish political interests. Being sold out to China and Soros, it is hardly surprising that the party is speaking the language of Pakistan. Congress leaders have turned their Modi-hate into hatred for Bharat, and Hindu Dharma and culture. The sooner we achieve Congress Mukt Bharat, the earlier we would prevent giving the modern-day Muslim League any advantage and leverage.
