BJP should have postponed its CEC meeting on Wednesday evening, in honor of fallen soldiers

Sir,The army or security forces of any country are its guardians, and when the country sleeps, they protect us diligently in extreme weather conditions like cold, heat, and dust. They stand ready to make great sacrifices for the defense of the nation when the need arises. On the previous day, on September 13 (Wednesday), in a clash with terrorists in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, our army colonel, major, and DSP of Jammu and Kashmir Police were martyred.

On this day, in the evening, the Bharatiya Janata Party celebrated the successful organization of the G20 Summit at its headquarters. It was attended by all the prominent leaders of the BJP, including the Prime Minister. The opposition has raised questions about this. The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have said that when three officers have been martyred while fighting terrorists, the country is proud of it, but when the country is paying tribute to the martyrs, the Prime Minister was celebrating the success of G20. Is this not an insensitive and inappropriate display of patriotism?

There is no doubt that the entire nation is proud of the success of the G20 and the world is also impressed with our achievement. We had the right to celebrate this event, but it could have been postponed for a day or two. On one hand, the funeral procession of the martyrs was taking place, and on the other hand, there was a shower of flowers on the car of the top leader of the country at the BJP headquarters. This occasion was meant to pay homage to the martyrs, to show immediate empathy to their grieving families, and not to have a celebration with flowers. This event could have been postponed for a day or two.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome when he arrived at the BJP headquarters for attending the meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) on Wednesday evening. After organizing the G20 Summit, Modi had visited the party headquarters for the first time. On his arrival at the party headquarters, a large number of party workers showered him with flowers and chanted slogans of “Modi-Modi.”

This is a time to pay tribute to the brave heroes of our country and show them respect, not to count our achievements and indulge in self-praise. The words of Chanakya come to mind. He had told Chandragupta, “Oh King, the day should never come when a soldier has to plead for justice from you. He places his life on the line at the border for the defense of the country, so that you, I, and our people can sleep peacefully at night!”
