With Islamist officials placed at higher ranks in West Bengal’s administration, a state where the minority pandering government has already suppressed the peaceful majority, the condition of the Hindus is only worsening by the day, to put it mildly. That the Hindus will be penalized for Islamist violence in West Bengal was made apparent when a young Hindu girl was arrested in Bengal’s Murshidabad for posting against rioters.
In another similar case, BJP activist Devdutta Maji claims that Mottakinur Rahaman, the Deputy Superintendent of Police had ordered tear gas shelling and lathi charges on the Hindus in Nadia. The incident took place at the Nakashipara police station in Bethuadahari, Nadia. Devdutta took to his Twitter handle and shared images of Hindus, who, he alleges, have been implicated in false cases. The bare bodies of the Hindu victims in his tweet show wound marks suggesting that they were beaten up with batons.
Devdutt Majhi further claims that as the state police helmed by Mamata Banerjee is arresting the Hindus, two Hindu families have taken shelter at his residence.
Nadia saw a fresh surge in Islamist violence on June 12, 2022, when an Islamist mob attacked the Bethuadahari railway station and vandalized a local train at the station. The attacks were part of the protests against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s remarks about the prophet of Islam. At first, a protest march opposing Sharma’s remarks was called in on June 12, 2022, by several Islamist organizations. However, the rally became a violent show of power and hostility.
Participants of the rally ransacked several shops while storming through the Bethuadahari market. This escalating violence soon led to the blockade of the national highway 34 for several hours. The police were present at the site of the violence, but they could do nothing to combat Islamist violence.
The radical mob then headed for the nearby Bethuadahari railway station and tore down the station. During this tumult, the Krishnanagar Lalgola local train arrived at the station. The mob immediately started hurling stones at the train while there were still passengers on the train. This led to a massive panic among the passengers also. Unable to control the Islamist rioters, the administration suspended train services for over an hour, which resulted in great inconvenience in the lives of the general public. On Monday evening, again, violence started to erupt in parts of Nakashipara.
Additional Director General (Law & Order), West Bengal Police, Jawed Shamim, said, “More than 200 people have been arrested, and 42 FIRs have been registered. No one will be spared. Strict action will be taken against those involved, and they will be booked. We will ensure maximum punishment.” However, there is no information about the identity of those arrested. On the other hand, Hindu activist Devdutt Majhi’s allegations against the police for arresting innocent Hindus strongly contrast with the police statement.
It is interesting to note that the West Bengal police, which couldn’t bar Islamist mobs from wreaking havoc in the state, had blocked West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari from visiting violence-affected regions on the afternoon of June 12.
Refusing to take responsibility for maintaining law and order in the state, chief minister Mamata Banerjee has placed the entire blame for the Islamist violence on the BJP. She tweeted, “As I have said before, the public life of Howrah is being disrupted, and there is an incident of unrest. There are some political parties behind this, and they want to spread unrest – but these will not be tolerated, and there will be strict action against all this. The BJP has sinned, will the people suffer?”
Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim said, “Bengal is a harmonious place. They are trying to destroy it. However, the state government will not allow this.” But as is evident, it is the state government, through its incapability to stop the rioting by Islamist mobs, that has allowed them to create unrest.
Only option is to ghereo & get her resignation while on visit to other places outside Bengal…
