“ASMD new Anglican Synod endorses BJP, Says predatory atmosphere of Dravidian movements is over”, The Commune Mag, March 1, 2024:

“In an evolving scenario in Tamil Nadu, members of the ASMD New Anglican Synod members have stepped forward to endorse the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This development appears to pose a significant challenge to the ruling DMK government, given that its voter base predominantly consists of minority communities, including Christians and Muslims in Tamil Nadu.

As the elections draw near, the increasing support for the BJP becomes evident through various demonstrations conducted by the party across Tamil Nadu, highlighting its developmental initiatives through the “En Makkal En Makkal Padayatra.” During a recent press conference held in Chennai, ASMD New Anglican Synod General Secretary Daniel Chakravarthy expressed strong dissatisfaction with the ruling government.

Accusing the DMK, which gained power with Christian votes, of neglecting and mistreating the community, he likened their approach to that of a stepmother. As a result, they have decided to throw their support behind the BJP, citing the party’s impartial treatment of Christians. Chakravarthy further asserted that the Dravidan movement had betrayed the Christian community, stating that their trust cannot be extended any longer. He emphasized that this support for the BJP would extend not only to the Lok Sabha but also to the upcoming 2026 state legislative assemblies….”
