Video shows ‘farmer protestors’ in Muzaffarnagar, UP trying to run over police with a tractor

Farmers taking part in Bharat Bandh called on 8 December to protest farm reforms tried to run over policemen with a tractor in UP’s Muzaffarnagar district. Police was trying to stop them from performing dangerous stunts on the tractor when the incident occurred. A case has been lodged in Titawi police station.

As per a Times Of India report, six unidentified youths were booked. The report adds  –

“Muzaffarnagar senior superintendent of police Abhishek Yadav, meanwhile, said, “Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the youths. They will be arrested soon and action against them will be taken as per the law.”

According to police sources, a bystander had shot the entire episode on his mobile phone and later uploaded the clip on the internet.

The clip shows several people on the tractor were trying to perform stunts on the crowded road, and when police tried to stop them, the driver accelerated the vehicle and fled the spot, said police sources, adding that a policeman had a narrow escape.”

Earlier, a similar incident was witnessed at the Singhu border between Haryana and Delhi. Violent agitators against the new farm laws had tried to remove barricades with tractors and when stopped by police, had tried to run the policemen over. Police tried to control the situation using water canons and tear gas, but the protestors had pelted stones, thrown tear gas shells back at police and attacked police with lathis.
