Devi Jagran disrupted by Muslim girl who raised ‘Islam Zindabad’ slogan and threw a black cloth on Devi’s vigraha: UP

During a Devi Jagran in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh (UP), a Muslim girl climbed onto the stage and raised slogans of Islam Zindabad. Furthermore, the girl also threw a black cloth on the vigraha of Devi Maa and the bhajan singer. This incident caused anger in the Hindu Samaj.

Subsequently, people from Hindu organizations started protesting, demanding the arrest of the accused girl. Meanwhile, the police lathi-charged the protesting Hindu activists. A protestor has been injured in the lathi charge incident. Police and administration officials reached the spot and assured the arrest of the accused.

Muslim girl disrupts Devi Jagran

On Monday night (23 October), Devi Jagran was organized by the Singh Vahini Durga Puja Committee in the Chauri Bazaar area, which falls under the Parshurampur police station area of ​​Basti district. Bhajan singers were singing the Jagrata of Mata during the Jagran.

Organizers said that at around 2 o’clock in the night, a Muslim girl climbed the stage. She threw a black cloth on the Durga murti installed on the stage and the bhajan singer. She also tried to snatch the mic from the singer. It is further alleged that the girl started raising slogans of Islam Zindabad and Pakistan Zindabad on the stage. This action of the girl created chaos in the Devi Jagran pandal. Hindus reportedly responded with the Jai Shri Ram slogan.

Hindu organizations blocked the road

As the news of this incident spread throughout the district, it sparked anger among Hindu organizations. On Tuesday morning (24 October), people of Hindu organizations started protesting by blocking Chauri Bazaar’s Maskanwa-Sikanderpur road. The protesters were demanding the arrest of the accused girl. On receiving information about the jam, area police station in-charge Inspector Rameshwar Yadav reached the spot with the police force. He tried to convince the people who sloganeering.

However, the protesters raised slogans against the police too. They emphasized that the jam would be removed only after the arrival of the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP). When the protesters did not agree, even after explaining, the police used mild force leading to a clash between the police and the protesters.

Chauri Bazar resident received a head injury in the clash. Regarding the incident, DSP Sheshamani Upadhyay said that a Devi Jagran was taking place in Chauri Bazaar when a girl from the Muslim community climbed the stage and started raising religious slogans. A complaint has been registered by the organizers. The police confirmed that one of the accused has been arrested, and the remaining accused will be arrested.
