A young girl who accused fake antique kingpin Monson Mavunkal of raping her alleged that she was threatened by government doctors during a medical examination. She said that the doctors were influenced by none other than Monson’s son who is also employed at the same hospital as a doctor. The victim’s statement is of prime importance to the case, as is the medical examiner’s report, the one that is being allegedly sabotaged. 

The girl had complained of rape and abuse while she worked with her mother at Monson’s beauty parlor. She was lured with offers of financial aid for higher studies and raped. When she complained, Monsoon’s goons threatened her family and silenced them. 

In her fresh complaint, she said that she was raped by Monson just two days before his arrest. She added that she was being raped by Monson since she was 17. The investigators received clear evidence that showed that the girl was staying in his house.

The Monson saga is now being probed by the crime branch and the moral policing and intimidation by govt. doctors happened when they took the victim for her medical examinations. Initially, she was supposed to be taken to the Aluva taluk hospital. The ‘absence’ of a gynecologist made the police take her to Ernakulam Medical College at Kalamassery. 

The victim was admitted to the Aluva govt hospital but when the doctors citing a busy schedule failed to turn up the next day, it was decided that they take her to Kalamassery medical college. A relative of the victim accompanied her and the wait continued at Kalamassery citing covid inspections.

Ultimately, they took her to the labor room. The victim said that the doctor inquired in detail about the case. That is when more doctors appeared and started asking her inappropriate questions. Doctors claimed that Monson belonged to a good background and accused the victim and her family of trying to frame Monson in the case. 

When she tried to get up and leave they locked the room and threatened her. The girl managed to free herself and ran out of the room. She informed the crime branch team who were waiting outside and returned with them. 

The victim said in the complaint that she may have been threatened under the influence of Monson’s son who is also a doctor there. Kalamassery medical college officials denied the allegations, brushing them aside as baseless but did not explain why they bolted the doors from inside when the victim told them that she wanted to leave.

Even after suffering harassment, humiliation and intimidation at the hands of the doctors, the victim could not register a complaint due to the ‘absence’ of women police officers at Kalamassery police station! The crime branch registered a separate case on the girl’s complaint but the medical college termed the allegations as false.

She was produced before a magistrate where she explained the ill-treatment suffered at the hands of the doctors. The court ordered the crime branch to admit her to Ernakulam general hospital. After much delay, the crime branch has registered cases against 3 lady doctors from Kalamassery medical college.   

What the higher-ups from the political elite, police force and the bureaucracy are doing to assist Monson is now well known. It is also alleged that Monson secretly recorded happenings inside a massage parlor located inside his house and has everything on tape. Many are being blackmailed and that is why the complaints against Monson have ceased.

Another young woman who worked at the same massage center came forward and one more harassment complaint was filed against Monson. She too was earlier forced to quit her job at the company. Back then, Monson’s goons with their threats made sure that she did not file a complaint.

Though the high and mighty are embroiled in the controversy, the state government told the Kerala high court that the state police is capable of conducting a truthful and unbiased investigation. They assured the court that they will take it to its ‘logical conclusion’. Monson has links with senior police officials including the former state police chief.

Interestingly, instead of bringing in a central agency, the court agreed to the state’s plea. It defies logic that the same officers who have close contact with Monson will prove him guilty in court. The rape victim’s trauma certainly does nothing to boost confidence in our system. In fact, it has had the opposite effect.
