Sangli’s Miraj Police registered a case against Hindu youth Vaibhav Rajaram Avale for carrying out a Varah Jayanti procession. Sakal Hindu Samaj highlighted the illegality of the case (Tweet archived here) and demanded immediate withdrawal of the case.

Varah Jayanti was celebrated on 25 August and like every year, this year too celebrations were held by Sakal Hindu Samaj across the state. As part of the celebrations, a procession was held in Miraj. However, despite written permission from Miraj police, API Sandeep Shinde from Mahatma Gandhi Police Station deliberately filed false cases against the Hindu youths.

The copy of police permission addressed to Vaibhav clearly allows the Varah Jayanti procession with certain conditions. Although, none of the conditions were violated, a case was registered against Vaibhav. This is not just illegal but unethical as well. The job of the police is to maintain law and order and not harass Hindus.

CM Devendra Fadnavis should intervene at the earliest and ensure that the false case is withdrawn. Furthermore, strict action must be taken against the API to prevent harassment of Hindus in the future.
