Man gives Triple talaq to wife over phone for not meeting his dowry demand of a car

A man gave triple talaq to his wife over the phone over for not getting a Swift car in Haryana’s Punhana.  Bichhor police have started a probe based on the complaint of the woman after registering a case of triple talaq and dowry harassment.

According to the police, the victim from Naheda village was married to Asgar of Punhana’s Hajipur on 21st May 2012. At the time of marriage, the victim’s father gave bikes, jewelry, cash, and other items in dowry. However, the in-laws were not happy with the dowry after marriage and hence the woman was often mentally and physically tortured. The victim reported that her in-laws demanded a swift car and cash.

As per the victim’s statement, on 6 December 2020, her husband and in-laws assaulted her and threw her out of the house. The victim says that she had been living in her father’s house ever since. The victim added that on 2 February 2021, her husband Asgar called on her brother’s phone and gave her triple talaq over the phone.

Police have registered cases against her husband Asgar, mother-in-law Hazra, sister-in-law Janani, Rashid, and Yahya for dowry harassment and assault.
