A Hindu minor girl was held captive in a brick kiln in Uttar Pradesh (UP) for six months by Shaqib who had kidnapped the 15-year-old and forced her into labor work and also raped the poor victim. Reportedly, the girl was kidnapped on 31st May this year from Kankarkheda police jurisdiction’s Sidhawali Village located in UP’s Baghpet area.
A complaint had been filed against Shaqib by the girl’s parents. The Hindu Jagriti Manch (HJM) had also come forward to protest the police inaction. HJM’s Sachin Sirohi issued a statement saying that the police failed to take action in the case in spite of the protests and therefore in October he led the family members to Kankarkheda police station and demanded that action be initiated against the accused Shaqib.
Sirohi asked for the intervention of either the District Magistrate (DM) or Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the case. Inspector Tapeshwar Sagar promised to take steps to trace the girl and accordingly an SIT (Special Investigation Team) was set up to rescue the minor.
Reports state that the girl was rescued on Sunday and the accused Shaqib was caught by the police on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway when he was attempting to escape to Delhi. During the police inquiry, Shaqib confessed that he had kept the girl captive in a brick kiln. He even admitted to having raped the girl in addition to forcing her to do labor work. The police then rescued the minor.
