Gorakhpur : Religion Conversion Racket Under the Veil of Curing Diseases

A man has been accused of fooling people and converting their religion on pretext of curing serious illness. This racket was running in Harijan Colony of Bhagwanpur Village of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh as reported in Hindi daily Punjab Kesari.

Anil used to organise a mass and prayer session on every Sunday at his home. Many men and women used to attend that mass and join the Christian prayers. Meanwhile Anil used to cheat them by saying that they will be cured of their serious diseases and thus, converting their religion into Christianity.

Activists of Hindu Yuva Vahini, when received the information of such conversion racket, surrounded Anil’s house and informed the police. According to the villagers, they opposed such conversion by cheating in past, but their voice was suppressed.

The police, who reached the spot on the information, detained five persons including the organizer of the prayer meeting. In addition, the police has registered a case under provocation of religious sentiments.
