Felicity 2026: Insights from the National Seminar on Social Work Practices

Delhi, April 27, 2026: F​elicity 2026, a national seminar on field work practices, concluded successfully with active participation from academicians, practitioners, and NGO representatives. The programme was convened by Prof. Bishnu Mohan Dash, who welcomed the distinguished guests and participants.​
The academic session focused on the evolving dimensions of social work education and practice. Dr. Neera Agnimitra, Chairperson, International Relations, University of Delhi, shared her fieldwork experiences, emphasising empathy, flexibility, and the changing role of social workers. She highlighted her engagement with diverse communities and discussed a case related to working with infertile women.
Prof. Pamela Singla, the former Head of the Department at the University of Delhi, underlined the importance of effective supervision in fieldwork and discussed the changing fieldwork patterns in the modern era. Prof. Neena Pandey, Senior Professor, Department of Social Work, raised concerns about shallow practice, limited research engagement, and the high student-supervisor ratio, stressing the need for deeper participation and reflection. ​Dr. Chittranjan Subudhi, Associate Professor, Department of Social Work,​ University of Delhi highlighted mental health as an emerging priority area. He emphasised the importance of communication skills, noted increased anxiety levels after COVID-19, and cautioned against excessive reliance on artificial intelligence in social work practice. The occasion also marked the release of the Department’s magazine ‘Endeavour’ by the distinguished dignitaries. The publication is led by its Chief Editor, Mr. Kumar Satyam, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College.
​An NGO meet followed, chaired by the Principal, with active participation from several organisations. NGO representatives discussed key challenges such as student preparedness, lack of coordination, and the need for better planning. They shared their work in education, urban development, CSR, and community engagement, while emphasising skill development in technology and communication. Concerns were also raised about students’ limited engagement with communities and the growing impact of artificial intelligence on field practice. At the same time, NGOs appreciated the efforts of students involved in campaigns and community-based activities. The discussion ended with a consensus on strengthening regular coordination between the college and partner organisations.
​Awards for rural camp participants were distributed by Prof. Bishnu Mohan Dash, Prof. Avatar Singh, Mr. Kumar Satyam, and Dr. Anjali Suman, along with other faculty members. Awards included Best Rural Camper (Male and Female), Special Rural Camper Award, and prizes for group presentations.
The programme concluded on a vibrant note with cultural performances by students, including a skit, guitar performance, solo singing, and dance presentations. The performances reflected the creativity and enthusiasm of students, adding a lively dimension to the event.
