Drunken miscreants manhandle girls and vandalize ladies hostel in Bhubaneswar

In a shocking incident, drunken youths forcibly entered a girls’ hostel and mercilessly beat up girls in the Nayapalli area on Friday, 5th May. The incident occurred in the Ugratara Hostel at Nayapalli in the Bhubaneswar.

This shocking incident happened at a time when the Police Commissionerate has launched ‘safe city drive’ campaign, for ensuring safety to the citizens.

As per initial reports, around 5 youths allegedly passed some comments at a girl and later entered the ladies hostel and vandalised furniture and other property at around 10 pm.

“I was standing outside the hostel when one of the youths hurled a stone which hit me. When I confronted them, they pushed me and started beating me and other inmates who rushed to the spot,” said hostel owner.

Another inmate alleged, “The youths always pass lewd remarks. They entered our campus and vandalised property.”

As per reports, furniture, TV and other articles were damaged by the youths who fled on high-speed bikes.

The matter came to the fore after a complaint in this regard was lodged by the victim at the Nayapalli police station on Saturday. Acting on the complaint, a team of police visited the hostel and started an investigation.
