Two recent separate incidents on the eastern border between Bharat and China exemplified the ethos of armies of the two nations. While Chinese Army kidnapped 5 Arunachali boys from the easternmost Bharatiya state, the Bharatiya Army rescued and returned 3 Chinese citizens who had mistakenly crossed the border in north Sikkim.
Congress MLA Ninong Ering from Pasighat West assembly in Arunachal took to Twitter to share the news. He shared screenshot of a facebook post by one Prakash Ringling. Prakash informed that 5 boys were abducted by People’s Liberation Army of China from Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal, one of them being Prasad, a brother of Prakash. According to the screenshot shared by Sh. Ering, the other four boys abducted from China border are named Tanu Bakar, Ngaru Diri, Dongtu Ebiya, and Toch Singkam.
SHOCKING NEWS: Five people from Upper Subansiri district of our state Arunachal Pradesh have reportedly been ‘abducted’ by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Few months earlier,a similar incident happened. A befitting reply must be given to #PLA and #CCPChina. @PMOIndia https://t.co/8gRdGsQfId pic.twitter.com/KbDMJ3bUi2

On the other hand, Bharatiya Army took exactly the opposite approach. According to a press release:-
“Indian army extended a helping hand to three Chinese citizens who had lost their way in plateau area of North Sikkim at an altitude of 17,500 feet on 3rd of September 2020. Realizing danger to the lives of the Chinese citizens, which included two men and one woman, in sub-zero temperatures. the soldiers of Indian army immediately reached out and provided medical assistance including oxygen food and warm clothes to protect them from the vagaries of extreme altitude and harsh climatic conditions. The Indian troops also gave them appropriate guidance to reach their destination after which they moved back the Chinese citizens Express their gratitude to India and the Indian army for their prompt assistance”
The difference in approaches by Bharatiya and Chinese army in dealing with civilians of each other actually mirrors the way they treat their own citizens. While human rights are non-existent in China, and forced disappearances, concentration camps and curbs on civil rights are the norm, Bharat is a vibrant democracy with a welfare state that gives a wide range of freedoms to the citizens and respects their rights.
That the abduction of Bharatiya citizens happened as Raksha Mantri is in Moscow and also meeting Chinese Defence Minister is even more shocking. It shows that China has no intention to back off and is in fact interested in broadening the conflict to include the whole Bharat-China border. The govt should take all steps to bring our citizens back from illegal custody of the Chinese. In the meanwhile, exposing the nefarious actions of Chinese to the world will certainly be a good idea.
