16-year-old Ritika Sahni’s throat slit by Sayyed Ali – Ballia, UP

Another minor Hindu girl’s life has been snuffed out by an Islamist for refusing his advances, while our wine-sipping elites contemptuously deny the problem of religiously-motivated grooming aka ‘Love Jihad’ and violence against Hindu girls.

16-year-old Ritika Sahni had gone with her friends to collect saag (spinach) from a field on Friday evening, when suddenly she was attacked by stalker Sayyed Ali who slit her throat before anyone could react. He then threw the murder weapon in the field and was trying to escape, when villagers who heard the screams came running, caught & thrashed Ali before handing him over to police.

The incident occurred in Lakshmipur village, Sikanderpur police station area, district Ballia of Eastern Uttar Pradesh where Ritika was staying with her maternal grandparents. Villagers stated that a man and woman who were accompanying the accused Sayyed Ali managed to flee.

Reports suggest that Sayeed Ali is a daily-wage labourer who had recently returned from Delhi after an interval of 2 months.

This is just another heart-wrenching crime in a long list of such murders of non-Muslim girls by Muslim stalkers/boyfriends/husbands – Shivani Khobiyan, Ekta Deswal, Priya Chaudhary (and her 8 yo daughter Kashish) Vaishnavi Ingle, Naina KaurPriti MathurRiya Gautam etc. and many more who die un-named like the 18-year-old Hindu girl who was raped and murdered by tailor Mohammed Dilshad in Lakhimpur Kheri, or the Hindu girl attacked in front of her 10-year-old brother by Hajrat Khan in Jharkhand.

OpIndia reports that Balia had recently witnessed yet another case of grooming jihad where one Imran was arrested for luring and kidnapping a minor Hindu girl he had befriended by hiding his religious identity.

UP has recently introduced an ordinance to check growing cases of fraudulent and illegal conversions, including those for the purpose of marriage. While one hopes that the government launches a mass awareness drive to sensitize people about the new law, and police & judiciary play their part in implementing the law without falling prey to usual pressure tactics of the secular-Islamist lobby, even this new law will not suffice to check crazed murderers like Sayyed Ali who appears to have had the support of others from his community (a disturbing trend witnessed even in Nikita Tomar’s murder by Tauseef Ahmed).

What is needed to protect girls like Ritika Sahni in the long run is a de-radicalisation drive within the Muslim community to weed out the maulvis, madrassas, mosques and community leaders who perpetuate supremacist beliefs and dehumanise kafirs (Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists etc), especially painting Hindu girls as legitimate targets for exploitation and/or conversion.

Unfortunately, all governments, BJP ones included, are presently in overdrive to appease the Muslim community through sectarian schemes, scholarship programs, undeclared quotas in govt appointments etc. This is only deepening the toxic idea of Muslim victimhood and exceptionalism within Muslims, rather than integrating them into the mainstream.

Till the time our politicians and intellectuals muster up the courage to address the extremist & radical  impulses within Islam, Hindus need to raise awareness among their children and push for community policing and neighborhood-watch style solutions to pre-empt such crimes, and apply continuous pressure on law enforcement to take any complaint by a Hindu girl or her family seriously.
