A video of Shubh holding the hoodie was shared by a Khalistani X account SherePanjabUK which is withheld in India. Several Punjabi singers have repeatedly taken a pro-Khalistan stance and aired their pro-Khalistan views time and again. HinduPost detailed how many of these singers have desecrated the Tiranga and openly supported those who did it despite the fact that Bharatiyas gave them the name and fame they enjoy today.
Kaur B (Baljinder Kaur), Kanwar Grewal (Kanwarpal Singh Grewal), Lucky Singh Durgapuria, Byg Byrd (Maninder Singh Kalyan), Ikky (Ikwinder Singh), Karan Aujla (Jaskaran Singh Aujla), Jaz Dhami (Jaswinder Singh Dhami), AP DHILLXN (Amritpal Singh Dhillon Home Town), Hard Kaur (Taran Kaur Dhillon), Gippy Garewal (Rupinder Singh Grewal), Shubh (Shubhneet Singh), Neeru Bajwa, DinoJMS (Dino James), Garry Sandhu (Gurmukh Singh), and Sidhu Moosewala (Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu) among others are well-known Punjabi artists who supported pro-Khalistan and anti-Bharat propaganda.
Many Punjabi ‘superstars’ have also supported the extremist Sikh movement, Diljit Dosanjh being one of them. He even got into a spat with Kangana Ranaut over his controversial views. As for Shubh, he recently landed into trouble after his support for Khalistan, leading to the cancellation of his ‘Still Rollin’ tour in India. Furthermore, Virat Kohli unfollowed him, and consumer electronics brand boAT withdrew its sponsorship of his India tour. After Kohli unfollowed Shubh, cricketers K.L. Rahul and Hardik Pandya did just that.
Shubhneet landed in soup on a day when India-Canadian ties hit rock bottom after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused “Indian agents” of perpetrating the June 23 killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar at a gurudwara in Surrey, Vancouver. It happened over an Instagram post by the rapper, which was captioned ‘Pray for Punjab’, along with two folded hands emojis, this baby-faced follower of the late Sidhu Moosewala ran a map of India without the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and the North-East on it.
It is now up to Bharatiya audiences to send a strong message that anti-Bharat hatred and secessionism would never be tolerated. The only way to make sure to get the message across is by making such people socially unacceptable and ensuring that brands do not associate themselves with such singers.
