A new ‘atrocity literature’ by a US-based ‘research’ org- ‘Hindutva Watch’ is in use by media– both Indian & intl to peddle the narrative of fascism in India.
But DID YOU KNOW Hindutva Watch has a Pakistani hand behind it which has direct links with Pak’s ruling party?
Exposé: HW started as a Twitter handle in 2019, & its website also became operational in the same year. It had no fathers until owned by Raqib Hameed Naik in 2023 with the help of WaPo journo Pranshu Verma. Verma didn’t even check the dates claiming it was founded in April 2021!
Hindutva Watch was not the only project of Raqib Naik. He had also associated with another anti-India propaganda front ‘TwoCircles’, which is part of a larger info-war network run by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan affiliates. We come back to this in a while.
Back to Hindutva Watch
Truth has a tendency to surface. An ‘interactive map’ embedded on the website of Hindutva Watch gave away the role of the Pakistani establishment. The map has been embedded and run by one Sardar Adil Kayani.
Kayani developed this ‘interactive’ map on October 13, 2021, and uploaded it on the Hindutva Watch website on October 21, 2022. To date, the map hasn’t been used elsewhere except the HW website, implying it was specially curated for this project.
Kayani not only runs anti-India propaganda but also runs PML-N’s propaganda in Pakistan. He has been running a similar ‘interactive map’ showcasing the ‘achievements’ of the ruling PML-N govt.
A true Pakistani, Kayani also runs propaganda on Kashmir. He launched a ‘signature campaign’ on Kashmir on Change dot org in 2017 echoing Pak’s ‘Free Kashmir’ demand. As expected, he also contributes his 2 cents towards the enterprise of dismembering India.
Kayani has stayed in the past in UK (2005-7) & Russia(2007-13) per his LinkedIn. That is not all. He is a key player in anti-India propaganda. His alter ego on social media– Cyrus Kayani– has been associated with another Pak establishment enterprise – Global Village Space.
Global Village Space (GVS) is home to host of anti-India narratives– from Kashmir to Khalistan to all other secessionist projects– a consistent & long cherished dream of Pak establishment across the govts & dictators. (digging deeper reveals some interesting names on GVS).
It is interesting to note that he tries to keep his Twitter identity (meant for domestic propaganda) and his other identity (meant for external propaganda) separate – using his different avatars.
Where have we seen this art before?
Another TCN member Valli Karunakaran had morphed herself in a separate avatar of Maari Zwick Maitreyi for another anti-India front Equality Labs. HW’s known Father Raqib Naik is associated with TCN.
It comes full circle.
TCN is part of Pak’s ‘Op Tupac’ which aims Balkanization of India. TCN founder Kashif Ul Huda is a SIMI sympathizer & supports the disintegration of India. Another TCN employee Irfan Mehraj (former JKCCS member) was arrested by NIA under UAPA.
Worth reminding: Before forming TCN, Kashif ran ‘Urdustan’ & ‘IndianMuslims’ which endorsed ‘Dalitstan’ that projected breaking India into Dalitstan, Mughalistan, Khalistan, & so forth.
What is surprising, however, is that despite repeated expose of similar fabricated data – from DoTo – to FIACONA– to NAMTA– the media continues to fall for these fabrications, without carrying out even the most basic scrutiny. The HW page itself confirms its affiliations.
Role of ‘international media’ is obvious by now–to hammer certain narratives independent of facts. It was WaPo that tried to establish HW as a Washington-based org. As usual MB fronts like Al Jazeera have actively promoted it Others followed suit–from Reuters to Bloomberg.
The role of Pakistani and Turkish ‘news media’ is also obvious, who heavily promoted this ‘report’ by Hindutva Watch, given that the Pakistan establishment itself was one of the architects of the report.
What isn’t so obvious is the role of Indian media. Whether it’s ignorance, callousness, apathy, or collusion, harm to India’s image will remain. As Prof Salvatore Babones once remarked, for some reason Indian intellectuals end up being on the side that bets against India.
Not to mention that this Pak establishment project demonizes the Hindu symbol of Trishul, and it has been normalized by the media, fueling Hinduphobia.
PS: Hindutva Watch and TCN are part of a much larger anti-India design, which unlike other fronts operating from abroad, tend to operate from within.
