A major breakthrough occurred in the Deoria district when police arrested Sameer Ali, accused of a suspected love jihad conspiracy. Acting on an urgent complaint from Sadar MLA Dr. Shalabh Mani Tripathi regarding multiple incidents in the Gauri Bazaar police station area, law enforcement teams mobilized quickly. They tracked Sameer Ali to near Gauri Bazaar’s western dhala, where he had taken a minor Hindu girl, disguising her in a burqa. The girl was successfully rescued and immediately underwent a medical examination, while the accused was placed under judicial custody after being formally arrested and sent to jail.
As per Jagran, on July 24, Sameer, son of Ashraf Ali, alias Guddu, a resident of Ward No. 6, Jalkal Road, Gauri Bazaar Nagar Panchayat, allegedly abducted the Hindu minor by forcing her to wear a burqa and taking her away with stolen household valuables. Following the MLA’s letter to the DGP calling for stern action in two local love jihad cases, the police launched an intense investigation. When they discovered the girl’s location in Butwal, Nepal, pressure was applied on the accused’s family, leading him ultimately to return with the girl. Authorities then swiftly intercepted and detained him near Gauri Bazaar. Deoria Police have affirmed that strict legal action is underway under relevant provisions, including the UP anti-conversion law.
The disturbing pattern of targeting Hindu girls from SC, OBC, and Brahmin communities suggests that the agenda behind these acts is not caste-based but a direct attack on Hindu identity and family structures.
Alarmed by the growing number of such cases, Sadar MLA Dr. Shalabh Mani Tripathi had written a strongly worded letter to the DGP, demanding an immediate investigation into a religious center operating near the Gorakhpur Overbridge. This center is suspected of being a radical grooming hub, brainwashing and converting vulnerable Hindu girls under the guise of spiritual or charitable activity. Dr. Tripathi has called for the urgent arrest of all accused and a complete dismantling of the network facilitating these conversions and human trafficking operations.
Meanwhile, the Hindu community in the region is rising in outrage. Social and religious activists are calling these incidents a form of religious warfare being waged against Hindu daughters. They are urging the UP government to impose the strictest punishments under the state’s anti-conversion and child protection laws and to act decisively against those enabling these crimes, whether individuals, institutions, or cross-border collaborators.
The police have taken a firm stand. Two special teams were formed to track down and recover the missing girls. One girl was successfully rescued from Deoria in the early hours of Friday, after her location was traced to Butwal near the Nepal border. She was recovered along with the accused, Sameer Ali, who was caught red-handed and sent to jail under judicial custody. He is currently under interrogation, and further leads are expected to expose more names connected to this dangerous conversion racket similar to Maulana Jalaluddin’s conversion syndicate.
