An undated video of a missionary performing a prayer in Tamil went viral on social media a few days ago. In the video, the preacher is seen kneeling and praying in Tamil. He also speaks about the 22 January Pran Prathishta ceremony, so this video can be considered recent.
In the short 90-second clipping, the preacher can be heard saying, “Please kill Modi, please kill Amit Shah, kill Nirmala Sitharaman, kill UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath. Please show that the deity there in Ayodhya is you by resurrecting from there. They have given a date for it – 22 January. Please bless us (he cries as he speaks). We are praying for you to save this country. Please protect our country and bring a change to this country. May the Gospel enter us and energise us more. The time 12:49 – your fire must burn this earth. Send a fireball of prayer on us.”
This is not the first time such a video has surfaced from Tamil Nadu. There have been several such speeches, even worse in tone and tenor, by preachers in the state. A pastor by the name of George Ponniah in 2021 said that the final years of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will be filled with misery. He added that if the deity we believe in is alive, we will witness Amit Shah and Modi facing adversity as if being devoured by dogs and worms.
Evangelism is a significant threat to our Hindu cultural fabric, like a cancer that can erode a society ultimately. The conversion machinery is a great threat to social harmony, too. Will an anti-conversion law prevent this? It is unlikely that a law can prevent people from praying for the death of individuals. However, as vigilant citizens of Bharat, the onus is upon us to aid in the gharwapsi of individuals back to the Hindu fold.
