IKS is a transformative paradigm in Education. In this thread, I’ll provide some context on the intellectual, structural, policy and institutional positioning. Might help the uninitiated learn and the wrongly motivated to rectify.
IKS refers to our civilizational heritage as the inheritors of a great ‘knowledge civilization’.
It includes the Hindu (ref below), Buddhist, Jaina, Sikh, Folk and Tribal systems, cultures and practices. It recognizes Oral histories and methods. Fuses Margiya and Desiya.
For ease of understanding, we can use the following pnemonic. Indian – Geo-cultural identity of Bharatavarsha. ‘Sacred Geography’ core. Knowledge – Iha and Para. Knowledge obtainable by senses and knowledge of the beyond obtainable only by Sadhana. Critical distinction.
Systems refers to a set of: Truth Claims (Ontology) such as Sat-Cit-Ananda. Means of validation (Epistemology) such as Direct Experience. Values: Values in research and what is (axiology). Ahimsa for ex.
Dissemination and self learning (Praxis).

Policy push comes from New Education Policy (NEP 2020), consistently highlighted as by Modi ji for Atmanirbhar basis.
IKS has been established in academia through the efforts of stalwarts such as Sh Kapil Kapoor ji, Sh Avadhesh Singh ji, Sh Michel Danino Ji and many others over several decades.
