Top 7 Bollywood actors who don’t shy away from displaying their Hindu roots

Celebrities have a great deal of responsibility towards the society. Whether they acknowledge this or not, their public images immensely influence their fans and followers. That’s precisely why celebrities smoking and drinking in TV advertisements is a big deal. Their followers also get drawn into celebrating and emulating these behaviors.

The anti-Hindu bias of Bollywood is quite well-known now. Most Bollywood actors, at least the most famous ones, shy away from exhibiting their Hindu roots and identity. Also, when it comes to issues affecting Hindus and Hindu Dharma, they either take an anti-Hindu stand or stay silent. It pains one to see that Bollywood celebrities could be so cold and callous towards Hindu causes in a country with a Hindu majority population.

Yet, as Bharat emerges out of the shadows of colonization, Bollywood too seems to be breaking its anti-Hindu shackles. Amongst both established and the new crop of Bollywood actors, there exist a few who seem to have no qualms in proudly displaying their Hindu roots.

It’s important that Hindus know about these actors and give added value to their work. The reason Bollywood is anti-Hindu is simply because the ecosystem awards such actors. But the movie audience has immense power. If the Hindu movie audience of Bharat starts giving preference to pro-Hindu Dharma celebrities while making the selection of movies to watch, the ecosystem could tilt other way as well.

Here is a list of the top 7 Bollywood actors who are rather proud of displaying their Hindu roots and identity, and some of them are also vocal on issues affecting Hindus.

  1. Kangana Ranaut – Kangana Ranaut, also fondly referred to as Hindu Sherni by many of her fans tops the list.

Coming from a middle-class Hindu family in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut is perhaps the only Bollywood celebrity who has taken on the nepotism issue engulfing the industry. Ms Ranaut with her bold and unabashed statements regarding many issues concerning Hindus is an eyesore for many. Her Instagram account is full of abusive comments from left-liberals and Islamists who hate her for her pro-Hindu stance. Yet, she carries on unapologetically.

Kangana also never shies from showcasing her Hindu roots. She frequently displays pictures and videos of various puja celebrations, and her visiting various temples on her Instagram handle. Kangana also attended the Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony in Ayodhya. Unlike many others who probably attended the ceremony for publicity purposes, she genuinely looks the most authentic celebrity out there with videos of her chanting “Jai Shri Ram” with great fervor and gusto.

Kangana also posted images on her Instagram account in which she can be seen seeking blessings from Swami Rambhadracharya and can also be seen participating in a havan ceremony along with various sadhus and other people.

In the Hinduphobic world of Bollywood, it certainly takes guts to showcase such a pro-Hindu public image. When many so-called Hindu celebrities of Bollywood shy away from even sharing pictures of Hindu rituals during festivals like Diwali and Holi, Kangana Ranaut unabashedly shares pictures and videos of her participating in various puja ceremonies and seeking blessings from Sadhus.

Kangana is also perhaps one of the very few well-informed and articulate Bollywood celebrities when it comes to national and political affairs. Her X timeline is full of posts and reposts of various political issues and matters concerning Bharat. Kangana definitely is a great icon for the Hindu youth and Bharatiyas in general.

Although to be honest, she does need to sort out a few issues here and there. Hinduphobic stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui participated as a contestant on Kangana’s digital reality show called Lock Upp Season 1. He had even won the competition. This is akin to Kangana’s endorsement of a rather problematic performer whose stand-up comic scripts have been under the scanner many times because of their anti-Hindu and bigoted content. Kangana should perhaps work up the courage to try and distance herself from Hinduphobes, even if it’s just a professional collaboration.

2. R. Madhavan – Actor, writer, director, and producer, R. Madhavan needs no introduction.

Though he has worked in more movies from the south of Bharat than in Bollywood, R. Madhavan shot to stardom in Bollywood with his stellar performance as the quintessential lover boy in “Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein” starring Dia Mirza. Madhavan also played the male lead in both part 1 and part 2 of “Tanu Weds Manu” starring Kangana Ranaut.

R. Madhavan is another proud Hindu who doesn’t shy away from exhibiting his Hindu roots. Madhavan became the target of the woke leftist lobby in 2022 for reportedly saying that the “panchang” had a celestial map of calculations on the position of planets, how their gravitational forces act, its effects, solar flares, etc. which was used while working towards inserting the Mars Orbiter Spacecraft into orbit in 2014. Madhavan reportedly said this at a promotional event for his movie “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect”. The video of his speech went viral on social media with many netizens brutally trolling him.

Madhavan also reportedly apologized for his speech later on. The Print also carried a rather venomous piece targeting R. Madhavan in August 2022. The piece titled “R. Madhavan is slowly fashioning himself as the Akshay Kumar of the south” compared Madhavan with Akshay Kumar and Kangana Ranaut for his apparent newfound love for the ruling BJP government and his supposed flaunting of his Hindu identity.

This targeting of Madhavan is a classic example of how the woke lobby tries to silence pro-Hindu Dharma celebrities by publicly shaming them. His movie “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” has also been criticized by mainstream Bollywood critics for laying too much emphasis on Nambi’s patriotism and leaning pointedly into his religion. Seems like R. Madhavan is now on the hitlist of the Bollywood woke brigade.

Madhavan didn’t attend the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pran Pratishthan ceremony but he shared posts on both X and Instagram to pay his obeisance to lord Ram and extend greetings for the inauguration ceremony. He shared a visual of lord Ram, Mata Sita, Lakshman, and Sri Hanuman along with the caption “Jai Shri Ram. Lok Samastaha Sukhinho Bhavantah…. May a long everlasting era of Love, Compassion, Peace, and Prosperity Start on this auspicious occasion, and may the world and everyone in it be blessed with the best”, he posted on Instagram.

3. Raveena Tandon – The 90s superstar of Bollywood Raveena Tandon is another celebrity who proudly displays her Hindu roots and identity.

Raveena posted many videos through her Instagram handle on the occasion of Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Ceremony. She posted a video displaying Jai Shri Ram Flags hoisted on the rooftop of a residential building, which could be her residence from the looks of it. She also posted several reels displaying Diyas on the occasion of the Consecration Ceremony calling it Diwali 2024.

Raveena also regularly posts videos showcasing celebrations of various Hindu festivals. These videos are unlike the woke videos shared by many other Bollywood celebrities; they rather showcase the Hindu rituals of these festivals. Raveena Tandon also routinely shares various reels of her temple visits through her Instagram account.

These might look like small things to an ordinary Hindu but when a Bollywood celebrity posts videos and other content proudly showcasing their Hindu roots, it’s a big deal. In the deeply Hinduphobic world of Bollywood where Hindu Gods are made fun of and Sadhus and even people sporting Tilaks are demonized, a super famous celebrity showing videos of themselves visiting Hindu temples is indeed a big deal.

In 2015, Raveena Tandon also backed Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen in the context of many Bharatiya writers returning their Sahitya Akademi awards. She came out in support of Taslima Nasreen who had lashed out at the dissenting writers saying that most of the secular people in Bharat were pro-Muslims and anti-Hindus. Raveena reportedly backed Taslima Nasreen through a series of posts on X, where she questioned why only the current events were singled out by the writers to voice their protests.

4. Tamannah Bhatia – Tamannah Bhatia works in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindu cinema. She shot to fame in Bollywood by essaying the role of the female lead in “Baahubali: The Beginning”. Her portrayal of Avantika in the movie earned her accolades and made her a familiar name in Bollywood.

Tamannah recently posted pics of her visit to Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam. A resplendent Tammnah can be seen following all the rituals at the temple along with her family members in the pic. The actress also shared a post to extend her greetings for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Consecration Ceremony. “A day full of blessings for the entire country. The vibrations, the energy, the blessings… a special moment that we have collectively witnessed in our lifetime “, she said in her post on Instagram.

Tamannah Bhatia has also co-written a book called “Back To the Roots” along with lifestyle coach Luke Coutinho. The book invokes Bharat’s ancient knowledge to tell readers how inexpensive and economically reasonable it can be to invest in a healthy lifestyle, prevent diseases, and improve longevity and thus, the overall quality of their lives.

Tamannah Bhatia is a relatively lesser-known Bollywood actor who doesn’t yet belong to the so-called A list of Bollywood celebrities. She is not a part of the nepo brigade either, yet Tamannah Bhatia has carved out an identity for herself. She might not be the most vocal celebrity on Hindu causes but at least, she doesn’t shy away from showcasing her Hindu roots and seems untainted from the Bollywood anti-Hindu culture, at least as of now.

That’s why it’s important Hindus support such celebrities so that they feel even more comfortable showcasing their Hindu roots and taking up Hindu causes.

5. Preity Zinta – The bubbly, effervescent Preity Zinta, of “Soldier” fame featuring an infectious smile might be keeping a low profile in Bollywood after her marriage, but she still occupies an important place in the minds and hearts of her fans.

Preity Zinta too belongs to that select and coveted list of Bollywood celebrities who posted greetings on the occasion of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pran Pratishthan Ceremony through their social media.

Preity Zinta also posted Diwali pics from her Instagram account in 2023 in which she can be seen proudly sporting puja Tilak along with her husband and an elderly lady. She is also one of those few Bollywood celebrities who can be seen sporting a bindi sometimes.

Zinta also proudly celebrates Karwachauth and posted a video of Karwachauth celebrations in 2023 through her social media. “This Karva Chauth we may not be together but you are in my thoughts, in my heart and on the phone my love. Happy Karva Chauth to everyone who celebrates it today. Loads of love, happiness, and togetherness to all the love birds out there”, says Preity.

In the Bollywood world of wokedom where celebrities routinely rant against Karwachauth calling it toxic, anti-women, male-chauvinistic, and whatnot, it is refreshing to see a top Bollywood star not just celebrating Karwachath in public but proudly displaying emotions through her social media.

6. Adah Sharma – The list would be incomplete without mentioning the super-talented and courageous Bollywood actor Adah Sharma who starred as the lead in “The Kerala Story”.

It takes immense courage to work as a female lead in a movie like “The Kerala Story”, that too for a relative newcomer in Bollywood. The kind of hate and bigotry Adah Sharma received from the left-liberal cabal and Islamists because of her role in The Kerala Story, is enough to scare and intimidate even a Bollywood celebrity. A mere customary scroll through her social media would alert you to the kind of hate and trolls she is still routinely subjected to.

But Adah Sharma is made of tougher material and does not shy away from showcasing her Hindu roots offscreen. Adah Sharma comes from a south-Bharatiya Hindu family, and her real name is Chamundeshwari Lakshmi Narasimhan Sundaresan Iyer. She has reportedly adopted the screen name Adah Sharma because her original name is difficult to pronounce.

Adah Sharma comes from a Dharmik family and is highly influenced by her mother who is a classical dancer and a Yogini. Adah Sharma is a trained classical dancer and an expert in traditional Bharatiya martial arts forms. She is especially an expert in the Silambam martial art form. Adah Sharma can also play multiple musical instruments and shares a special bond with animals. In one of her interviews, she talks about how she has her own way of conversing with animals and thus, connecting with them on a deeper level. She can even mimic animal sounds!

You can see various videos on her Instagram where she can be seen not just lovingly caressing various animals but also joyfully communicating with them. Adah Sharma also posted celebrations of the Ram Temple Consecration ceremony where she can be seen offering prayers and lighting diyas at a temple somewhere.

Adah Sharma’s personality is a fine example of a Dharmic upbringing which inculcates qualities of serenity, and compassion in humans who lead a wholesome existence in sync with nature and all its creations.

7. Kartik Aaryan – Kartik Aaryan turned heads in Bollywood in the earlier phase of his career with movies like Pyar Ka Punchnama. Yet, despite possessing conventional good looks, a chiseled physique, and commendable acting skills, Kartik still hasn’t made it to the top echelons of Bollywood.

Could Kartik Aryan being a bit too much of a Hindu be the reason behind this? An article published by the TFIPost in 2021 titled “Is Kartik Aaryan too Hindu to survive in liberal Bollywood”? sheds light on this.

The article talks about the “ouster of Kartik Aaryan by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. It further argues that Kartik Aryan’s ouster from Dharma Productions can perhaps be attributed to his being too much of a Hindu and a proud nationalist “to be part of the liberal circus of Mumbai which many like to call Bollywood”.

The article talks about an X post by Kartik Aaryan in 2019 in the wake of the Ram Janambhoomi Supreme Court ruling coming out in favor of Hindus. He had reportedly posted a breakfast pic with the caption “Aaj breakfast mein sabr ka phal khaaya”.

Regarding this also, the article argues that Kartik Aryan is perhaps too much of a Hindu for the liking of the Bollywood cabal.

The super-talented Kartik Aaryan is indeed a part of the distinct list of Bollywood celebrities who don’t shy away from proudly proclaiming their Hindu roots. Although recently, he seems to be maintaining a bit of a low profile and not posting too much on social media regarding Hindu issues or even showcasing visuals of festival celebrations, Pooja ceremonies, and all.

All we can say is that continue being a proud Hindu, Kartik Aaryan, and don’t let the toxic haters get on to you. As for Hindus, they should support an actor like him more by watching his movies in large numbers.  Another beautiful love story “Satyaprem ki Katha” starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani is currently streaming on Prime Video. It’s a must-watch, I’d say.
