A Muslim professor at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) made a communal remark on social media that insulted Hindu beliefs. Malappuram resident Abdul Rasheed Kariyath, an assistant professor at the University (established in 1993 in Kalady, Kerala), posted on Facebook mocking Hindu beliefs.
Rasheed shared a photo of a dove resting on his washroom showerhead. There is also a closet nearby. Rasheed asked whether people (Hindus) would think it was now a temple and if the decision would be made to demolish it and build a temple.
This blasphemous post was shared on 1 February. The post insults Hindu beliefs and court judgments. Rasheed supposedly teaches at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Tirur (Malappuram) Regional Campus.

“A pigeon has come to my toilet. Will there be a verdict to demolish the Shiva toilet and build a temple? Mere Pyare Desh Vasiyom, what you see below in white is not a Shivalinga turned upside down. It is a sacred place where I devote myself and always meditate. It wasn’t built during the reign of Akbar or Tipu. The toilet is a product of the time when the price of petrol increased.”

Mere Pyare Desh Vasiyom is a commonly used sentence by radical Islamists to insult our Prime Minister. Fossil fuel prices are another widely used to troll and degrade the BJP, claiming that petrol rates were increased to build toilets.
Rasheed has now locked his Facebook profile. On a LinkedIn profile, Rasheed claims to be the Director of the SSUS Regional Campus. He added he was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy – PhD, Sanskrit and Classical Indian Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics Doctor of Philosophy – PhD, Sanskrit and Classical Indian Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics.
Janam TV reported that a complaint was filed against Abdul Rasheed Kariyath in Ernakulam for insulting the Hindu faith. Haindaveeyam Foundation Ernakulam filed the complaint to Ernakulam Rural SP. The complaint is that Rasheed’s Facebook post has been circulated in a way that creates religious friction. They demanded that a case be filed against Rasheed.
Social media posts reminded us that had Rasheed insulted his god, the Sar Tan Se Juda (STSJ) squads would have done their job by now. Consider the impact on the students he instructs. Why do such Islamic zealots handle Sanskrit education?
