Junaid arrested for seriously injuring his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter in Malappuram, Kerala

Malappuram police arrested a father who brutally beat up his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. On the complaint of the child’s mother, Chazhiote Thodi Junaid (34) was arrested at Kalikavu in Nilambur taluk of Malappuram district, Kerala.

The police stated that the medical report said that the child had injuries to her head, face and other parts of her body. The victim of a brutal beating is undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College. Her mother, Farshana of Nalucent Colony, Poongode, complained.

Non-bailable sections have been imposed under the Juvenile Justice Act against Junaid. On the 21st, Junaid allegedly kidnapped his two-and-a-half-year-old child and one-year-old child and went to his house in Chazhiyod, Kalikavu, on a motorcycle.

Feeling something was wrong, Farshana immediately called the police and complained. The police said that Junaid and Farshana lived apart due to family issues.

Junaid returned with the children within an hour. The mother and grandmother said that the two-and-a-half-year-old girl was in a weak state. After the girl said that her father beat her up, she was admitted to Wandoor Taluk Hospital. Even after the victim left the hospital, the child continued to feel discomfort.

She was taken to the Kalikavu Social Health Center and shifted to the Manjeri Medical College. By the time the case came to light on the 31st, the child had been undergoing treatment at the medical college for three days. Allegedly, the child has a bone fracture below the shoulder.

Junaid has also been charged with causing injury by hitting his daughter with a stick. There is a complaint that the accused had a habit of physically assaulting Farshana. The police said that Junaid is an accused in cases including ganja trafficking. The Manjeri Judicial First Class Magistrate Court remanded the accused.

A detailed investigation into the incident is ongoing. The health condition of the baby undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College Hospital is satisfactory. What action the local police initiated after receiving Farshana’s original complaint remains unknown.

Islamist extremists have joined hands with anti-national Naxals and smuggled drugs into Kerala. Though they allegedly claim it is to destroy the ‘kafir’ non-believers of Islam, the real agenda is to make easy money. It now seems Muslims themselves have become victims of this evil scheme.

This atrocity against a minor girl came just days after HinduPost reported how another two-year-old girl named Fatima Nasreen was killed in the same Kalikavu area of Malappuram. Fatima was brutally tortured to death by her father, Muhammad Faiz. The accused kicked the child, who was lying on his mother’s lap, and her head hit the wall.

The initial post-mortem report stated that the injuries to the child’s head and chest led to her death. She was hit on the head, her brain was jolted, and she had a blood clot. The post-mortem report also stated that the girl’s ribs were fractured. The child’s body also had puncture wounds from cigarette burns.

Meanwhile, relatives, including Fatima’s mother, Shahanath, came forward with serious allegations against Faiz. They alleged that Faiz was constantly beating the child. He said that the child was not his and was harassing her. Relatives allege that Faiz’s mother also beat the child.

Ramlath, the child’s grandmother (Shahanath’s mother), lamented that despite showing the child’s beating marks to the Kalikavu police, no action was taken.

Kalikavu Circle Inspector (CI) Sasidharan Pillai said other Faiz family members might also be accused. Further action will be taken after a detailed investigation and evidence collection. The CI also stated that the grandmother (Faiz’s mother) did not inform the police about the earlier assaults.

Shahanath and their children lived in their own house for a long time. In the meantime, Faiz forced Shahanath and took them to his own home. Shahanath had filed a police complaint against Faiz earlier. Faiz’s family demanded that this be withdrawn.

Faiz is adamant that he did not beat the child. He kept silent when questioned about the wounds on Fatima’s body. Police said that Faiz did not even express a desire to see the baby’s face for the last time.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the child’s mother was also a victim of cruelty. A voice clip came out of Faiz’s sister threatening Shahanath. Faiz’s sister threatens that no matter what Shahanath tells the police, they (Faiz’s family) are not afraid and will not hesitate to separate the mother and her children.

Police have yet to arrest or question Faiz’s mother or sister.

The High Court intervened in the Kalikavu Faiz incident. Justice Devan Ramachandran directed the High Court Registry to seek the Chief Justice’s permission to file the case voluntarily. The court said it is shocking that such an incident occurred in Kerala. The court also pointed out that a similar case had been reported earlier in Thodupuzha.

Experts point out that the recent track record of Kerala police against Islamists involved in violent criminal acts has been poor. Who is tying their hands behind their back? Is this encouraging the criminals?
