In Navi Mumbai’s Taloja Phase 1, a conflict erupted between Hindu residents and Islamic community members over Diwali decorations. Based on the reports from ABP News, the tension centres around Panchanand Society in Sector 9, where Islamic community members opposed putting up Diwali lights in public areas and on streets around the building.
In a video circulating online, a group of Islamist men are seen threatening Hindu women, insisting that lights will not be allowed in the society. One man, recorded on video, specifically states, “I will see to it that no lights are installed here.” Shortly after, other individuals from the same group joined in, opposing the Diwali festivities. The video also captures a man verbally threatening a woman who was recording the incident.
Based on the reports from OpIndia, this incident is reportedly tied to an earlier episode from June 2024, when Hindu residents raised objections to the public slaughter of goats for the Bakrid celebration within the residential society. In what appears to be a retaliation, some members of the Islamic community have now voiced opposition to the celebration of Diwali, one of Hindu Dharma’s most significant festivals, symbolizing the return of Bhagwan Ram after his 14-year exile.
Widely circulated videos on social media platforms like ‘X’, and comments condemned what they saw as growing intolerance and radicalism, with many expressing outrage that Hindus in Maharashtra are now facing challenges in celebrating their festivals.
The ongoing dispute has underscored a growing divide as instances of radical and intolerant behaviour by the Islamic elements increase even in Hindu-majority areas. Recently, the Hindu Post reported on a major incidents of radical attacks under the headline, “Unrelenting Islamist Violence Targets Hindu Festivals: A Stark Reality of Rising Intolerance Across Bharat.” These incidents are increasing at an alarming rate, with authorities often failing to take effective action in most cases.
Despite Bharat being a Hindu majority nation, the voices of Hindus are increasingly suppressed, while certain radical elements seek to exert undue influence. Hindus must remain vigilant and uphold their Dharma unwaveringly, recognizing that safeguarding cultural and spiritual heritage is paramount.
