‘Jai Bangla’—Muslim woman cheers Bangladesh while living in Bangalore, KA

Bengaluru witnessed a disturbing episode near Hulimangala, Electronic City, when an Islamist woman allegedly raised the slogan ‘Jai Bangla’ during an official operation to clear illegal Islamic settlements. According to News18 Kannada, the incident occurred while authorities were using JCB machines to demolish unauthorized structures. The woman was later arrested by Hebbagodi police, and a case has been registered.

Video footage circulating online shows the woman being asked by a local resident to say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’ Instead of responding affirmatively, or even ignoring the request, she allegedly shouted ‘Jai Bangla’ and walked away. The slogan, raised at a time of heightened public tension, immediately provoked outrage among locals.

Living in Bharat, praising Islamic nation

The incident has triggered widespread anger because it touches a raw nerve. A person living in Bharat, consuming Bharatiya resources, protected by Bharatiya law, and openly raising slogans in praise of another country during a law-enforcement operation, raises serious questions. In most countries across the world, such conduct during a government action would invite swift legal consequences. In Bharat, however, such acts are often shielded under the convenient umbrella of free speech.

Selective tolerance and dangerous normalisation

Bharat’s tolerance is repeatedly tested and often exploited. Slogans like ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ or now ‘Jai Bangla’ are raised without fear, while any firm response is instantly branded as intolerance. This selective application of free speech has normalized open defiance of national sentiment, even in situations involving suspected illegal migrants and enforcement of the law.

Police have stated that the woman is being questioned to determine her origin, residential status, and whether the act was self-motivated or instigated. These questions are crucial because this incident is not merely about a slogan; it is about intent, allegiance, and respect for the host nation. Authorities must ensure that such acts are not brushed aside as trivial provocations.

This episode is a warning. When slogans glorifying other nations are raised with impunity in Bharatiya cities, especially during official operations, it signals a deeper erosion of civic responsibility. Free speech does not mean freedom to insult the nation that shelters you. If Bharat continues to excuse such conduct, it risks encouraging more open acts of contempt until tolerance itself becomes a weakness exploited beyond.

This is not the first time such an incident has been reported. Last year, too, a YouTuber was allegedly assaulted in a similar manner, where a content creator was reportedly attacked for singing in praise of PM Modi and then forced to chant ‘Pakistan Zindabad,’ which fits into a wider and deeply troubling pattern.

Across Bharat, pro-Pakistan slogan controversies have surfaced repeatedly. In Karnataka, the BJP has filed a police complaint in the ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan row against Rajya Sabha MP Naseer Hussain. In Bihar’s Bhojpur, five people were arrested for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans after a badminton match. Taken together, these are not one-off moments to be brushed aside as mischief or emotion; they signal a dangerous normalization of anti-Bharat provocation and coercion in public spaces.

Governance in Karnataka is going out of hand under the Congress government led by CM Siddaramaiah. There is a limit to everything, but Congress has crossed it. Many in Karnataka no longer feel safe, especially Hindus.

If someone’s loyalties genuinely lie with hostile nations, they should stop using Bharat’s freedom as a cover to disrespect the country and threaten its citizens. Authorities must act without hesitation or selective softness. Forced chanting, threats, and assaults are criminal acts, and slogans that glorify a hostile country cannot be treated as casual speech when they are used as tools of intimidation. The State’s response must be consistent: identify offenders, apply strict sanctions where evidence exists, fast-track prosecution, and ensure consequences that deter repetition.
