Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 12 October to 18 October 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) Kerala Communists blamed Hindutva for a hijab row between Muslims and Christians. A Muslim student at St. Rita Public School in Kochi demanded her right to wear the hijab in a Christian-run institution. The school, backed by a High Court interim order and police protection, said no, the uniform applies to all. Within hours, Education Minister and CPI(M) leader V Sivankutty intervened, ordering the school to permit the hijab. However, Hindu community was dragged into the issue for no reason.
2) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav sparked controversy with his comments on Diwali celebrations, drawing parallels with Christmas festivities across the world. He opined that one should not to spend on diyas in Diwali.
3) A shocking incident in Jammu & Kashmir’s Akhnoor area has sparked outrage after a 16-year-old Hindu girl from Jourian reportedly eloped with a boy under circumstances her family claims involved manipulation and brainwashing. The case, now viral on social media, has reignited debate over alleged “grooming” and religious conversion rackets spreading across Bharat.
4) An audit of Kerala’s revered Guruvayur temple has exposed glaring irregularities in its asset management, opening yet another chapter in the long saga of temple mismanagement under Communist rule in the state. The audit revealed that precious donations of gold, ivory, saffron, and cookware have gone missing—echoing similar episodes seen at the Sabarimala temple earlier this year.
5) The director of Dude, Keerthiswaran, has unabashedly proclaimed his ideological loyalty to E.V. Ramasamy Naicker (hailed as “Periyar” by his followers) while defending a film that tramples upon the sanctity of marriage, romanticises extra-marital affairs, and parades moral decay as “progressive values.”
6) What began as a minor argument, nothing but a strong religious intolerance of Islamic goons over a Diwali firecracker in Hennur, Bengaluru, escalated into a violent confrontation late on Diwali night. A group of five Islamist men allegedly returned to the neighborhood armed with machetes and long weapons, threatening residents and creating widespread panic. The incident occurred near Doddaramanna Layout in Hennur.
7) A controversy erupted in Pune’s Shaniwar Wada after a video showed Muslim women offering namaz inside the historic ASI-protected monument, sparking protests and a police complaint. BJP MP in Rajya Sabha Medha Kulkarni led the protests, performing a “purification ceremony” with cow urine and Shiv Vandana, claiming the namaz was an “outrage” and demanding strict action against those involved.
8) Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra from the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) has come under fire for endorsing a white supremacist’s derogatory remarks about Bharatiyas and their cultural practices. The controversy erupted after a handle named Nate (@CelticAshes) posted a video of a chaotic street scene, captioned with vitriolic language deriding Bharatiyas for supposedly turning Western countries into “total shitholes” with their “retarded Diwali garbage.”
9) A woman in Bengaluru has filed a police complaint against her partner and his family, accusing them of forcing her to convert to Islam for marriage. The case has been registered at the HSR Layout Police Station, and the accused has been identified as Islamist Mohammad Ishaq.
World
1) Amidst the Diwali festivities in the US, Christian extremists resorted to vilifying the festival as “demonic” and slandering those partaking in it. Out of nowhere, Bharatiyas have also been accused of ‘destroying’ wildlife in the US and Canada.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
We request all readers to share other anti-Hindu hate crimes that we might have missed in this period in the comments below or by emailing [email protected]. We also solicit support in maintaining the Hindu human rights tracker database.
