Shivamogga, long considered one of the communally sensitive districts of Karnataka, has once again witnessed a disturbing attempt to disrupt peace and harmony. In a deliberate and provocative act, unidentified Islamists desecrated the sacred murthis of Bhagwan Ganesha and Naga Devata in the Bangarappa Layout area of Raggigudda. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has sparked massive outrage among Hindu devotees and raised serious concerns over the growing audacity of anti-Hindu elements operating with impunity in the region.
As per the Hindustan Times, the desecration took place in Shantinagar ward, where recently installed murthis of Ganesha and Sheshanaga stood as symbols of local faith and reverence. According to police sources, the miscreants not only defaced the murthis but, in a shocking display of contempt, kicked and threw the Naga murthi into a roadside drainage channel, deeply offending religious sentiments. The incident is being seen as a targeted attempt to provoke unrest and insult the sacred traditions of Hindu Dharma.
Local residents, enraged by the act, gathered in large numbers and strongly condemned the deliberate desecration of their revered deities. Many termed it an unforgivable assault on the beliefs of peaceful, law-abiding Hindus who have been custodians of cultural harmony for centuries. The vandalized murthis held immense emotional and spiritual significance to the Hindu community, and their destruction has left a deep wound.
As tension escalated, senior police officials rushed to the spot, assuring residents that a formal case had been registered and that strict action would be taken against the culprits. Additional police forces were deployed to prevent any escalation or retaliatory incidents. The area remains under tight security as a precaution, and authorities claim that the situation is presently under control. The police are actively investigating, collecting evidence, and interviewing potential witnesses to trace the perpetrators behind this hateful crime.
However, the incident has taken a distinctly political turn. Karnataka BJP State President and Shivamogga MLA B.Y. Vijayendra condemned the desecration on social media, stating unequivocally that “anti-Hindu elements, after a temporary pause, have resumed their agenda to disrupt societal peace in Bharat. In a strongly worded post, he confirmed that the murtis of Ganesha and Sheshanaga were desecrated and one was thrown into a drain, branding the act as a deliberate attempt to humiliate Hindu society.”
Vijayendra went on to criticize the Congress-led state government, accusing it of harboring a biased and dismissive attitude toward Hindu organizations. He alleged that the government has consistently supported anti-Hindu forces, thereby emboldening such miscreants to carry out brazen attacks on Hindu symbols and traditions. According to him, Shivamogga has become a hotspot for anti-Hindu activities due to the state’s failure to uphold justice and protect the sanctity of Hindu Dharma.
He warned that if the government does not take swift and uncompromising action against these evil forces, it would bear full responsibility for any fallout. His remarks reflect a wider concern shared by many across Bharat that attacks on Hindu beliefs are increasing in frequency and aggression, while governments often remain mute or dismissive under the guise of secularism.
When local media spoke to residents near the desecrated site, a woman eyewitness recounted the horrifying incident: “It happened around 6:30 PM yesterday. They jumped over the fence and broke everything. The temple structure was damaged, and the murthis were kicked and thrown into the drainage. There were no men around at that time, only a few of us women. When we saw what was happening, we screamed and ran after them. We, about 10–12 women, chased them, but they managed to escape. They used to come and go earlier, but this is the first time they committed such a heinous act.” Her statement to the local media paints a clear picture of a premeditated, targeted attack on Hindu religious symbols.
Bajrang Dal leader Pramod Muthalik has strongly condemned the incident, calling it a deliberate and shameful attack on Hindu Dharma that will not be tolerated.
Shockingly, while local reports have clearly captured the pain and anger of the Hindu community, mainstream media (MSM) continues to whitewash the incident. They claim two individuals have been arrested but are deliberately hiding their names and religious identities, choosing silence over truth, and once again showing a clear bias in favor of the perpetrators. If the accused were Hindus, the names, photos, and entire background would have been splashed across every headline by now. But since Islamists are involved, the narrative is being carefully twisted to avoid communal tensions, while the dignity and pain of the Hindu community are ignored. This isn’t journalism; it’s propaganda. And the question remains: why is it always the Hindus who must suffer in silence? Why does the media repeatedly shield those who attack our temples, our deities, and our beliefs?
Earlier in Shivamogga, the Congress government shamelessly imposed a ban on the release of a book exposing Love Jihad, clearly siding against Hindu interests. The repeated betrayal of Hindus in Karnataka by the Congress regime will never be tolerated. Crimes against Hindus are consistently ignored, revealing a dangerous and deliberate pattern of appeasement.
Update
As of the latest available update at 10:30 PM, two individuals, Syed Ahmad (32) from Sheshadripura and Rahmat (50) from Bapuji Nagar, have been arrested by Shivamogga Rural Police for insulting Hindu deities and outraging religious sentiments, as well as for alleged atrocities against a woman belonging to the Scheduled Caste community. As per Suddi Live, the incident has triggered communal tension in the city. Despite illegally constructing a house in the area, no prior action was taken against the accused, raising serious questions about administrative negligence. The accused Islamists desecrated sacred Hindu murthis by trampling them and throwing them into a drain. Former minister K.S. Eshwarappa has strongly condemned the act and demanded the immediate arrest of a third person involved in the incident.
