Two oracles were arrested for violating a ban on animal sacrifice at Sree Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple, Kodungallur, Kerala. Kodungallur circle inspector Brijukumar confirmed the arrest and the judicial first class magistrate quickly remanded them to judicial custody, for 14 days.
The tradition of sacrificing roosters for the Devi dates back hundreds of years. The communist regime introduced the Kerala Animals and Birds Sacrifices Prohibition Act of 1968 which prohibited the sacrifice of animals in temples to please the deity. Ironically, during Bakra eid, millions of animals will be openly slaughtered in and around mosques all over Kerala and the world.
The police did well to dampen the spirits the very same day that the famous Kodungallur Bharani festival began. Two young men, Adithyanadh Surendran and Sunil Thandassery who offered the birds as a sacrifice at the ‘Kozhikkallu’ (altar for the birds) at the North Nada of the temple were quickly taken into custody.
Communists and anti-Hindu forces in and around the temple do not allow this sacrifice and have even altered the same. Devotees are now forced to symbolically cover the Balikkallu with a red cloth. Even that is considered a luxury and incidentally the very first mosque that came up in Bharat is just a kilometer away from the temple premises. That mosque is a classic example of how lies and deceit still rule Bharat and how even PM Modi fell for it.
Similar attempts to restore age-old Hindu traditions have happened in the past and the police have used the same restrictive tactics. Last year, S Shanavas IAS, the district collector did not even allow oracles to enter the temple premises even as churches and mosques were thrown open.
The Goddess is in her Rudra bhavam (fierce form) and the rooster sacrifice is of divine importance. Any interruptions will have serious consequences and implications are not just for Hindus but for the region as a whole. Those Islamists who are now trying to hinder the rituals too will be affected, as per local beliefs.
An organization called the Viswa Vamachara Dharmaraksha Sangam had requested for restarting the rooster sacrifice ritual in 2020 but has not succeeded, yet.
A Times Of India HINO (Hindu In Name Only) reporter said that heavy rains ‘dampened the spirit’ of the Kodungallur Bharani festival late in the evening. These left-liberals are so removed from reality that they do not even know that rains are considered auspicious. In many parts of the world, special prayers are conducted for a few mm of rain.
