Christian voices that deserve to be heard instead of John Dayal, Kancha Ilaiah, and hate-mongering Bishops like Ezra Sargunam

We wrote an article on Muslim voices that need to be heard in the Hindu space. These voices are those of liberal, well-thinking Muslims who look at the larger picture of the future of Bharat as one cohesive unit. In another instalment of this series, we present Christian voices that deserve to be heard instead of rabid preachers and proselytisers like Ezra Sargunam or John Dayal or a Kancha Ilaiah.

These voices we present to you understand the imperialist agenda of missionaries, especially evangelists, and have a measure of respect for Hindu Dharma.

Fmr SC judge KT Thomas

The RSS is often demonised in our country and across the world. But here we have a former SC judge with a different opinion of the organisation. Retired Supreme Court judge K T Thomas credited the RSS for Bharat’s safety alongside democracy and armed forces, citing its role in opposing the Emergency. He praised RSS’s discipline and views physical training as defence, not offence. Thomas advocates for integrating secularism with religion, emphasising individual dignity. He critiques the notion of secularism solely protecting religion, suggesting it should preserve culture.

Sinu Joseph

Sinu Joseph, a Bharatiya journalist and author, delves into women’s rights and traditional sciences, notably in her books “Women and Sabarimala: The Science behind Restrictions” and “Rtu Vidya: Ancient Science behind Menstrual Practices.” Exploring the Sabarimala temple’s restrictions on women’s entry, she blends historical, social, religious, and scientific insights, drawing from traditional Bharatiya sciences like Ayurveda and modern research. Joseph was born into a Christian family, which she found stifling, and she considers herself an atheist from a Christian perspective. She advocates for a nuanced understanding of Hindu culture, emphasising its inclusivity. She asserts that being born in Bharat inherently makes one part of Hindu culture, transcending religion to encompass a way of life.

Savio Rodrigues

Rodrigues, the founder & Editor-in-Chief of GoaChronicle & Incubees, also founded the Thomas Seva Foundation. He acknowledges that his ancestors were Bharatiyas and that they were converted decades ago from Sanatana Dharma to the Christian faith. Rodrigues was born in a Christian faith to parents who taught him their understanding of the Christian faith. But he asserts that his grandparents and parents taught me about Christianity as well as about service to his motherland and not to forget that he is a Bharatiya first. Savio Rodrigues acknowledges that Sanatana Dharma is in his roots and is proud of it.

Jerome Anto

Jerome Anto, hailing from a devout Roman Catholic family, identifies as a practising Christian. He is recognised as a Politico-Religious observer and an outspoken anti-conversion activist, openly embracing his nationalist convictions. Despite his Christian faith, Anto proudly acknowledges his Hindu roots, tracing back to his forefathers who likely converted under historical circumstances. Additionally, he is an active member of the RSS and BJP, unabashedly aligning himself with their ideologies. Anto’s unapologetic stance reflects his deep-rooted commitment to his Christian and Hindu heritage. Jerome Anto believes in the necessity of a Hindu Rashtra for peaceful coexistence in Bharat. He criticises the church’s tactics of exploiting superstitions and foreign funding to increase conversions.

Robert Rosario Kamath

A social and political activist who is a nationalist as well, Robert Rosario Kamath, was disowned by the Mangalorean Diocese for “creating a rift within the Catholic community and hatred between other religious communities and the Catholic community.” Rosario made a video levelling accusations against Christian priests in connection with the Church attacks that occurred in September 2008. Additionally, he made allegations against Catholic priests on various other issues, seemingly aimed at instilling negative sentiments among Hindu voters and influencing them to support the BJP.

DA Joseph

Born a Christian, DA Joseph was deeply attracted to Vaishnavism and even married a Christian girl with the same attitude. A staunch patriot and a proponent of Vaishnavishm, DA Joseph is also a spiritual orator. DA Joseph, a scholar in Hindu Philosophy, dedicated over three decades to propagating Sanatana Dharma. He founded “Rishi Dharma,” a non-profit organisation to aid the awakening of spiritual consciousness among the youth. Through thousands of lectures in English and Tamil, he simplifies ancient Bharatiya traditions, impacting listeners globally and fostering personal transformation.

Dr MJ Augustine Vinod

Retired Group Captain, a Fighter pilot, Dr MJ Augustine Vinod is a nationalist and openly showcases his love for Sanatana Dharma. He also has created threads on Christian conversion activities in Bharat.

Anjali George

Anjali George is a fiery activist, writer, and advocate for preserving Indic and indigenous cultures. She played a pivotal role in the ‘Ready To Wait’ movement, defending the rights of indigenous women against political interference targeting the Sabarimala temple tradition. George holds positions on the Board of Frankfurt City’s Council of Religions, Indic Collective, and Shaktitva Foundation and chairs People for Dharma.

Dr. Hilda Raja

Dr Hilda Raja was a PG-level professor at Stella Maris College, Chennai. Post-retirement, she worked with many NGOs and as a Development Consultant. She was nominated to the Advisory Committee of the CBCI (Catholic Bishops Conference of India ) for three years. Having studied all through in Minority Institutions and reared in a Christian ethos, she is fully convinced that the Hindu soul is secular and other religions totally misunderstand Hindu Dharma. For her, Bharat and all that it holds is sacred.

It is always good to have well-meaning Bharatiyas from other religions who speak for the Hindu cause. Giving them space on our platforms will do us a whole lot of good in the longer run.
