Bhagwan Parshuram murti vandalized in Udaipur

The murti of Bhagwan Parshuram was vandalized on February 20 in Rajasthan’s Udaipur triggering protests by locals. Locals protested by raising slogans against the administration and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits. BJP MP Arjun Lal, who asked for strict action against the accused, said that the situation in Rajasthan was worse than in Syria and Iraq.

The incident occurred in Ravaliya Khurd village which comes under the Gogunda police station. The murti had been consecrated by the villagers who offered daily prayers. On Monday morning when the villagers arrived for their daily puja, they discovered the damaged murti. The vigraha had been uprooted and thrown on the stairs. The hands were also broken.

Despite repeated appeals by the police to maintain calm, angered locals staged a dharna. It was only after the Dharna by outraged locals that the police registered a case and began looking for the accused. Last reported none of the culprits has been identified and arrested. The BJP MP said that appeasement politics pursued by Ashok Gehlot’s Congress government was making life difficult for Hindus in the state.

Former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje raised the issue on Twitter. She condemned the incident while expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. “Vandalizing of Bhagwan Parshuram’s murti in the Gogunda police station area of Udaipur district is highly condemnable. It is evident from this that there is no law and order in the state. Chief Minister should take strict measures”, her Hindi tweet read.

Be it theft of temple murtis or temple demolition by the state, the anti-Hindu Congress has only shown apathy towards Hindus.
