‘Bhagavad Gita a failure, Rama and Krishna are mere characters…Quran an eye-opener’: Guruvayur magazine editor Alankode Leelakrishnan

Alankode Leelakrishnan is a poet and writer known as a fierce critic of the Sangh Parivar. Recently, Leelakrishnan stated that the Bhagavad Gita failed and that Rama and Krishna (Bhagwan Shriram and Shri Krishna) are just characters, not epic men. At the same time, he praised the Qur’an and Islam. He declared that the Qur’an is an eye-opening book.

Leelakrishnan is on the editorial board of Bhakthapriya Magazine. Bhakthapriya is a Guruvayur Devaswom publication and is published in Malayalam. Temples in Kerala are now run and managed by atheist Hindus In Name Only (HINOs), and Leelakrishnan is the perfect example. So, are Hindus paying salaries to such anti-Hindu intellectuals who degrade our religion?

Leelakrishnan’s methods of singling out Hindu religion and glorifying Islam have drawn criticism. He attacks the Hindu scriptures and sees the Qur’an as the epitome of humanity. Leelakrishnan primarily participates in many programs (literary camps) organized by Islamic organizations.

He delivered This speech while honouring the winners of the essay competition organized by Dialogue Center Kerala, an organization of Jamaat-e-Islami, on interpreting the Prophet Muhammad.

“All sections of people should realize the goodness of Islam. The Qur’an is a text that promotes an outlook on humankind that is more inclusive. The message of the Qur’an opens the eyes of the human community. “

“There are no distinctions. Prophet Muhammad envisioned a nation without the hardships of poverty and the pain of orphanhood, and the Prophet has experienced both these adversities,” declared Leelakrishnan.

Recently, news appeared on social media that Leelakrishnan had converted to Islam. “Fact Checkers” claimed it to be fake news spread by someone on social media. It was spread in the name of Mathrubhumi’s online newspaper. Mathrubhumi is allegedly another HINO-owned pro-Maududi ideology propagandist.

Hindu nationalists posted the news of Leelakrishnan’s conversion on social media with captions like, “Happy to see you leave, stop receiving payments from the magazine associated with the Guruvayur Devaswom Board right now and step down.”

However, Mathrubhumi quickly clarified that the news circulating in the name of the publication was ‘fake’ and Leelakrishnan had not converted. Mathrubhumi Online stated that this news is fake.

“A fake poster using the logo of Mathrubhumi.com is spreading false information about Alankode Leelakrishnan. Mathrubhumi.com has not published or circulated any such news or poster. Legal proceedings would be initiated against those who prepared and circulated it.”

Leelakrishnan responded that he was saddened that such fake news was being spread about him in the name of Mathrubhumi. –

”It seems the news that Alankode Leelakrishnan has converted to Islam is being widely spread using the emblem of Mathrubhumi Online. Some people forwarded it to me, too. To the best of my knowledge, I have not converted yet; I’ve stuck with my religion. As someone who has lived a secular life, I have independent opinions on some subjects.”

“Some of it (opinions) has been distorted, misinterpreted and falsely propagated for some time. They are using my statements to spread fake news that I have converted and joined Islam. I am very sorry and sad that such news is being spread in the name of Mathrubhumi”, he said.

Some on social media pointed out that secularism does not mean ridiculing one religion and promoting another, and that is why Leelakrishnan is being criticized. A section said that the conversion controversy is a troll created against the attitude of promoting Islam and belittling Hindus. Modern communists think that all religions are equal.

Born in Alankode village of Ponnani taluk, Malappuram Leelakrishna wrote poems and articles even during school. He first came to the public platform through essays. His first book was published in 1993 and was later made into a documentary series by Doordarshan. He is also a freelance journalist who has embarked on ‘educational trips’ to different parts of Kerala.

Leelakrishnan is currently a member of the Thunchan Memorial Committee in Tirur. Thunchaththu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan was a Hindu devotional poet, born in 1495, who Malayalis consider the father of Malayalam literature. He has written stories, screenplays, and songs for a few Malayalam films. Leelakrishnan was an officer in Kerala Grameen Bank.

Hindus believe that Leelakrishnan has pawned himself to Islamists and is known for his intellectual hypocrisy.

  1. I have read both Geeta and Quran. Geeta is the best book I have ever read. Quran is the worst book I have ever read.
