“In what could be termed a big blow to the Russian LGBTQ+ Community, the Russian Parliament on Monday signed legislation that bans people from officially or medically changing their gender.

The act, passed unanimously by the State Duma and Federation Council of Russia, not only bans any medical interventions aimed at changing the sex of a person but also restrains a person from changing his gender in public records.

The law further bars Transgender people from fostering kids and nullifies marriages where one person has changed gender. The only people to be excluded will be those seeking medical intervention to treat congenital anomalies.

As per Christian Network Europe News, the Russian Orthodox Church severed ties with the Western Churches earlier in February this year on the pretext of the latter abandoning traditional marriages…..”
