18 murtis made of 100 kg sugar powder rice in Murarikati North Palpara mandir in Bangladesh, festive atmosphere before Durga Pujo starts

Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival of Hindu Dharma.  This festival will begin on October 20 with Shashti Puja.  On the occasion of celebrating this festival, 18 murtis have been constructed using 100 kg sugar-powdered rice in Murarikati North Palpara temple of Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira district in Bangladesh.

The festival has not yet started but a good number of people are thronging the temple every day to look at the  murti  made of 100 kg sugar-powdered rice. There is a festive atmosphere before the puja.

The murtis were made at Murarikati North Palpara temple of Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira.  The murtis appear to be covered with gold. They are made of paddy one by one like a doll. It took a full month to make the 18 murtis in full.  Wood, bamboos, jute, nakshi cloth border and bichuli frame or structure, clay and expensive sugar powder rice were used to make the 18 murtis including Durga, Kartik, Ganesha, Saraswati, Laxshmi etc. in this mandap.  Some parts have been sprayed with expensive paint.  Due to which the beauty of the murtis has increased.

Every year murtis are made in different forms in this temple.  This time around 100 kg of powdered rice has been used to make the murtis of this puja mandap.  The complete work of making the murtis was accomplished a few days ago.  In the meantime, many people are flocking to the temple to see the murtis of rice.

Statues of paddy have been constructed at a cost of one lakh rupees organized by the local youth committee.  The puja mandap is crowded with devotees from different places to see the murtis of rice.  When the puja starts, the security of the temple will be maintained with the help of the volunteers of the puja committee and the local administration.

Forty Hindu families live in Murarikati Palpara.  This time, the members of the youth committee made such a beautiful murti for the Durga Puja celebration which is really appreciated.

Durga Puja is starting from October 20. The murtis will be immersed on the evening of October 25.  This festival will be celebrated with great enthusiasm in 48 places of worships in 12 unions and one municipality of Kalaroa upazila. Before Sharadiya Durga Puja, murtis are installed in mandaps and all preparations are in final stage.  The local minority community hopes that the Durga Puja will end in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere this year.

Kalaroa police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman told the local media that extra vigilance team will be kept in every mandap so that everyone can celebrate Durga Puja peacefully.  Ansar, Village Police and Thana Police have formed several teams to control the law and order of the Puja Mandaps.
