Woman brutally beaten by her husband Nazim & his family over dowry demand

In an appalling incident in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Ajmi, a 22-year-old resident of Maheshpur, was brutally assaulted by her husband Nazim, father-in-law Sabir, and other family members, including Rihan, Rukhsar, Majid Hussain, and Saeed Ahmed. The horrifying assault, prompted by the demand for dowry, left Ajmi on the brink of death.

Ajmi, who married one-and-a-half years ago and has a five-month-old son, bravely filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the six accused at the CB Ganj police station. The FIR includes charges of dowry harassment and physical injuries inflicted upon her. The victim narrated in the FIR that her in-laws had subjected her to relentless harassment since the early days of her marriage, all centred around the alleged inadequacy of the dowry she brought.

Ajmi disclosed that her husband had physically assaulted her on numerous occasions and even forcibly expelled her from their home. Shockingly, despite such heinous acts, local Panchayats attempted reconciliation, but the accused remained obstinate in their demand for dowry.
