Suhail Khan rapes his sworn Hindu sister, who used to tie him Rakhi: UP

A woman engineer in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district has been raped by a contractor named Suhail Khan. The victim is working as a Junior Engineer (JE) in Jal Nigam (Rural), in which the accused works as a contractor. Khan used to call the victim his ‘sister’, and she had been tying rakhi to him for several years.

The case is from the Katra police station area. On Rakshabandhan festival which occurred a few weeks back, the woman had tied rakhi to Khan, and the same was shared by him on social media.

On Wednesday night, Khan entered the victim’s rented house and raped her. She lodged a complaint the next day and Khan was arrested by Katra Police.

Such cases of Muslim men raping their rakhi-tying so-called sisters have been reported earlier too. In a case from 2018, a Hindu girl was raped by a youth named Shakir whom she considered her sworn brother and to whom she used to tie rakhi. After raping her, Shakir shot an obscene MMS video of the girl and sent it to her fiance, causing her engagement to break and pushing her to attempt suicide.
