Stones pelted on Hindu mutt after seer speaks against Love Jihad, cow slaughter, conversions: Karnataka

Police in Karnataka on Friday tightened security in Afzalpur area of Kalaburagi district after stones were pelted, allegedly by Muslims, on the building of a Hindu mutt (monastery), whose seer had spoken against love jihad.

The Siddalingeshwara Samsthan mutt’s building in Mashal village was attacked on Thursday night when the seer, Kedar Sree Swamiji was sleeping inside, according to the police.

On December 28, Kedar Sree had participated in a programme organised by Hindu Jagruthi Sene in Kalaburagi (formerly Gulbarga) and had openly spoken against love jihad and cow slaughtering. The district, which borders Maharashtra, is located in North Karnataka and the region formerly came in Hyderabad state ruled by the Nizam.

It is suspected that Islamists angered by his comments resorted to stone-pelting.

Hindu Jagruthi Sene leaders have condemned the act and asked Kalaburagi police to initiate action against the culprits for trying to attack the Hindu religious seer. The police department has tightened security in the mutt as well as in the ‘sensitive’ areas of the Afzalpur town. However, no arrests have been made as yet in relation to the attack.

As per visuals of the mutt after the attack, glass of several windows were broken by the stone-pelting. Luckily, no injuries have been reported thus far.

An OpIndia report quotes Hindu Jagruthi Samithi spokesperson Mohan Gowda explaining the whole incident. He said that they had invited local Hindu Karyakartas and local seers for the inauguration ceremony of a new branch office. Mashala Siddalingeshwara Samsthan mutt’s Kedar Sree Swamiji was the Chief Guest for the event. Kedar Sree Swamiji took the stage to speak against the anti-Hindu activities happening in that area. He spoke against love jihad, forced and planned conversion of Hindus, cow slaughtering etc.

“The Afzalpur area is Muslim dominated and Hindus staying here face a lot of problems”, Mohan Gowda added. “It is three months ago that a Hindu boy was trapped in a relationship by a Muslim girl who was recieving required help from a group of Muslims in Afjalpur. The boy was then killed and thrown in the banks of Bhima river”, he informed.

The case Mohan Gowda is talking about is the brutal murder of 14-year-old Mahesh Kolli by the mother of a Muslim girl who was his classmate. The girl’s mother and an acquaintance chopped off Mahesh’s private parts and his nose before killing him and then bundled the dead body into a sack and threw it into the river.

  1. I am from near that area. It is one of the no-go zones for Hindus. District former name was Gulbarga. Coastal Karnatak also is not good with some district having 25% M population. That has infamous Bhatkal where SIMI founders lived
