A man, Saif Ali Saleem (26), has been arrested for raping a 14-year-old Hindu janjatiya girl on November 14 outside her school in Morgiri village, Patan taluka of Satara district, Maharashtra.
Saleem had groomed the girl and taken her to a hotel under some pretext in September, where he raped her and recorded a video. Later, on November 14, he trapped her behind her school in Morgiri and again raped her around 5 pm. The Islamist predator, a resident of Pethshivapur area of Patan, also posted videos of the sexual assault on social media.
As per reports, a video of the man beating the schoolgirl is also doing rounds. In it, Saleem is seen trying to force himself on the girl and when she resisted, he slapped her repeatedly.
Residents of Patan protested against this ghastly crime by closing shops and shutting the market for 24 hours, while demanding the accused rapist of the minor janjatiya girl be hanged. The lawyer’s association in the district also condemned the incident and has said that no lawyer would help defend the accused.
