A Christian pastor was arrested in a case of molesting a young woman who came to work in his church. The incident happened in Mavelikkara, Alappuzhaattam. Saji Abraham (64), a native of Punalur in Kollam district, was arrested.
Abraham was the pastor of Mattam Church of the Indian Pentecostal Church of God (IPC) Church at Mattam. It is a small village hamlet in Mavelikkara. The alleged incident related to the case took place on 14 January. The case is that the young lady who came to work at a house near the church was molested.
Initially, the victim informed her husband about the harassment and filed a complaint with the Mavelikkara police. Following the complaint, the police interrogated the accused. But the accused was not arrested.
When the police were not ready to arrest the accused despite giving a detailed statement, the victim approached the District Police Chief and then the High Court. With this, Mavelikkara police were forced to arrest Abraham. Why the police delayed the arrest remains unexplained.
A madrassa teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in Wayanad. Kammom KC Moidu (32), a resident of Mananthavadi, was arrested. The incident related to the case took place last week.
The girl informed her family about the sexual assault. Then, the parents complained to the police. Sub-inspector Jhansi recorded the child’s statement.
Later, the madrasa teacher was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Moidu had previously misbehaved with the child. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
