Pakistani hackers leak Kerala school students data

A Pakistan-based hacker group stole the online database containing information about Kerala school students and staff, including Department of Public Education teachers. They collected the data from the ‘Sampoorna’ portal and leaked full details of an aided school in Kattakkada, Thiruvananthapuram. Local media said a hacker group called Team Insane PK was behind this attack, and they publicized this information on Twitter.

Information stolen includes personal information such as the student’s name, picture, ID card number, class, phone number, parent’s name, and employee details. Login information to the software that conducts Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations was also compromised. SSLC exams got underway on Thursday at 2,960 centers in the state.

Anxious parents informed the school after receiving the hacker’s message on the stolen phone numbers ten days ago. The messages were from Pakistani mobile numbers, and school authorities filed a complaint with the Kattakkada police on the 28th. The IP address of the computer was found to be in Pakistan.

Suspiciously, Kerala Police allegedly refused to register a case or record their statement. Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) is a Govt of Kerala special-purpose company under the Department of General Education of the Government of Kerala that handled the stolen data.

KITE CEO K Anwar Sadat said that out of more than sixteen thousand schools in Sampoorna, the information of only one school had been leaked. The central database has not been compromised. In the wake of this incident, KITE will provide special training to all school stakeholders to ensure data security.

KITE is a perfect example of how communists target young minds. The educational tool has been turned into a communist propaganda machinery by the ruling Marxists. In October 2022, KITE claimed that as many as 19.72 lakh school students of Class V to X across Kerala have been equipped with essential skills to prevent the spread of ‘fake news’ through social media. Kerala government considers the ills of forced conversion, grooming jihad, and halal economics as fake news.

Experts pointed out that just because the Pakistani hackers leaked the information of only one school does not mean that the whole database had not been compromised. The hacker group’s Twitter page contains details about leaked state and central government institutions and personnel and peddles the data openly. The page has since been suspended.
