Newly married Meerut woman abducted by Nuru, Asif & Dilshad who attempted to forcibly convert her to Islam at Bulandshahr Masjid

A newly married woman was abducted in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Meerut by two Muslims who attempted to forcibly convert her to Islam. As per reports, the woman was abducted from the Partapur Bazaar by Asif and his brother-in-law Dilshad. The duo kept her for two days at a Bulandshahr Masjid where they attempted to convert her forcibly.

With pressure from the woman’s family and the police in pursuit, the duo abandoned her at the Partapur Bazaar before absconding. The victim’s statement has been recorded under Section 161 of the CrPC (Criminal Procedure Code) and she was subsequently sent for medical examination.

The woman, who hails from Partapur, was married a month ago in May in a village that falls under the jurisdiction of the Kithaur police station. She had returned to her maternal home. On June 15, she visited the market for shopping but didn’t return home. When the victim’s family members contacted the woman on her mobile, she informed them that she has been abducted by Noida’s Dadri resident Nuru, Bulandshahr resident Asif and his brother-in-law Dilshad. She further informed them her abductors have taken her to Bulandshahr.

The accused tried to convert her to Islam at a Bulandshahr Masjid. The victim’s family members pursued the accused and caught Dilshad from Dadri. Based on the leads provided by Dilshad, Asif was caught from Bulandshahr. After this, the accused dropped the woman at Partapur Bazaar. The victim’s family registered a complaint against Nuru. The police sent the victim for medical examination late in the evening.

According to the family, the accused Nuru dropped off the victim only after Asif and Dilshad were taken to the police station. The police let the duo off after the victim was let off. The woman’s family members were angered with Asif and Dilshad’s release. The family members also alleged that Asif married the victim (nikah) following Islamic rituals after forcing her to accept Islam.

They further accused Inspector Shailendra Pratap of releasing the accused and also raised objections in this regard. It was only after protests from the family that the police swung into action. The accused Nuru has been booked by the police on charges of abduction and further investigation is underway.
