Goa police arrested two Muslim migrants from Nepal after they raped a Russian tourist. The two men were out on bail in a case registered by the West Bengal police and had jumped their bail conditions and fled to Goa, police sources said.
Nidhin Valsan, Superintendent of Police (SP) North Goa, informed that the accused had been identified as Sakhil Ansari (23) and Sayumdhin Ansari (23). Both hailed from Nepal’s Bardiya and worked as housekeeping staff in Calangute, Goa.
The crime occurred on December 1, the day the 37-year-old Russian lady reached Goa for a vacation. She booked into the hotel with two of her friends. They left for a walk, visited several tourist attractions in Goa, and returned to the hotel in the evening. The lady then had a couple of drinks and decided to call it a day. She returned to her room while her friends continued to party.
According to the police, the first accused entered the Russian woman’s room and offered to clean it. Since he was a cleaning staff appointed by the hotel, the unsuspecting lady let him in. It was around 11 pm, and the tired tourist fell asleep. The victim was intoxicated at the time and did not realize she was raped. Then, the second accused entered the room and began to assault her sexually. By then, the victim had regained consciousness and screamed for help.
After receiving the complaint, the police arrested the two Nepalese men on charges of rape. Police say both the accused are being interrogated, and the matter is being investigated. Some reports suggested that she approached the police on Thursday night itself and due to the unavailability of a translator, the Calangute police registered her complaint only on Friday.
According to West Bengal State police sources, the duo was arrested for house-breaking and petty theft and jailed for almost three months. After a local court granted them bail, they were required to report to the local police station every 15 days. They did not and allegedly fled to Goa. There are two police cases registered against the duo in West Bengal, sources informed.
Were these 2 criminals part of TMC murky politics?
Promising ‘revolution,’ TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and thousands of her supporters from West Bengal, urged on by her ‘master’ poll strategist Prashant Kishor had camped in Goa since late 2021 for the Feb 2022 state assembly elections. As per the Election Commission figures, TMC spent a whopping ₹47.54 crores in Goa, while the BJP spent ₹17.75 cr, Congress ₹12 cr, and AAP ₹3.5 cr on election expenditure in the state. The rabidly anti-Hindu Mahua Moitra led their campaign.
Following the assembly elections in February 2022, BJP and its allies won around 30 of the 40 seats. TMC was routed, and even its partners joined the BJP. Though TMC and Banerjee returned to WB in haste, there were allegations that thousands of criminals from West Bengal were brought to Goa under the guise of election work for fake voting. Some asked which Bengal they were coming from, West or East. Warning bells did ring back then, but ‘secularism’ meant no action was initiated.
When questioned, Banerjee tried to instigate separatism and claimed victimization at public rallies in Goa. Some TMC leaders asked their ‘workers’ to stay back and work hard for the party. It is now suspected that many were illegal migrants who never returned.
Were Sakhil & Sayumdhin part of that evil scheme, and how many such Islamists remain hidden in Goa? Is a sinister green communist agenda at work to disturb the Bharat-Nepal alliance? As if the illegal Rohingyan and the Bangladeshi radical Islamists were not enough, Bharat now faces a similar threat from Nepal too. It is time that we took a hard look at the open-border policy with Nepal, as too many criminals and terror elements have exploited this vulnerability. A proper social audit of the so-called election campaign of the TMC also might be revealing.
Now the pandemic is over, and tourists are returning to Goa. Any such incident is sure to send shockwaves – is that part of the plot to keep the current govt. on the defensive? Has complacency crept into the local BJP leaders, leaving Goa at the mercy of foreign criminals? Drugs, crime and pedophilia rings were a constant feature of Goa tourism during the Congress rule, which lasted well into the early 2010s.
Local Goans complain that illegal migrants are spoiling Goa’s goodwill. They should also introspect why such convicts with criminal backgrounds were employed without background checks. Police officers should weed out such elements and pack them back to their country of origin before they indulge in crimes.
