Delhi police recovered a minor girl who had been kidnapped by one Naved alias Sameer. Available information suggests that she had been sexually exploited by Naved who reportedly even forced her to undergo abortion and convert to Islam.
The girl was kidnapped from Moti Nagar area last October. Reports state that she was subjected to sexual harassment by the accused for six months and impregnated her. The accused has been booked under IPC for kidnapping as well as under relevant sections of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. The victim, who originally hails from Nepal, was rescued by the police with the help from NGO Mukti Foundation.
As per Mukti Foundation’s Director Virendra Kumar Singh, since the minor is a Hindu and the accused is a Muslim, it is being suspected that she was kidnapped with the intention of converting her to Islam. Police are questioning Naved to obtain more information in the case. The police stated that a case had been registered by the victim’s family members on the basis of which the police swung into action immediately and launched a manhunt for the accused.
Singh informed the media that the girl went missing on October 10 last year following which they approached Child Rights body NCPCR. He added that they received information about the girl going missing from Rights of Women and Children Foundation, after which they stepped in to help the victim and her family. In the meanwhile, they learned that the girl was in Uttam Nagar area. Team members of Mukti Foundation reached Uttam Nagar along with a team of South Delhi police’s Anti Human Trafficking Unit. They succeeding in locating the girl and Naved was also present at the place where she had been held captive.
Furthermore, it came to light that she was pregnant for a third time and the accused had already forced her to undergo abortions twice earlier. Subsequently, the Moti Nagar police was apprised of the case and further investigations are ongoing.
