Muslim mob manhandles vigilance team which went to stop electricity theft in Kanpur, UP

A Muslim mob manhandled the vigilance team which had gone to catch electricity theft by drone in Kanghi Mohalla of Colonelganj in Kanpur, UP. An attempt was made to snatch the drone from the operator by creating ruckus, due to which his mobile fell and broke. The SDO Sudhir Srivastava of Bajaria police station has lodged a complaint in the matter.

As per the Police, a complaint of power theft has been filed against Shama Parveen, Zarina Begum, Sahwa Fatima, Mohammad Aslam, Razia Sultan, Mohammad Yusuf, Noman Ahmed at the Parade’s Anti Power Theft Police Station. Apart from that an FIR has been filed against three named and four-five unknown people for indecency, snatching, obstructing government work.

As per the official sources, the vigilance team had reached near Talimul Islam School between 99/350 to 99/354 of Kanghi Mohal at around 6:45 am on Saturday morning for investigation. The team was lead by the JE SP Yadav, including Inspector Sanjay Singh and Cycle Market SDO. The team was checking the illegal connections by using a drone.

Suddenly an old Muslim man came out there and started shouting that why you people check for power theft in Muslim dominated areas only. It is morning, and you are peeping on the roofs with the help of a drone, while our girls and women are sleeping on the terrace.

Listening to the heated arguments, six-seven Muslim youth came and started abusing the power officials and snatching their phones and devices. Vigilance Team Inspector Sanjay Singh tried to make them understand that they are running a campaign to identify the illegal connection, but it all went in vain.

SDO Cycle Market Sudhir Srivastava said that a complaint has been filed against four-five unknown people including Chotewale, Pappu and Rizwan who were involved in the scuffle. Eight cases of electricity theft have also been caught in this area, whose FIR has been registered in the Anti Theft Police Station of Parade.
