In Karnataka, the Sampangi Rama Nagara Police have arrested a 38-year-old Muslim man named Mohammad Mubarak for raping and murdering a woman. Mubarak, who worked as an auto driver, picked up the woman while she was waiting for a cab early in the morning. He then took her to an abandoned building, raped her, and then killed her by pushing her from the first floor.
The woman’s body was discovered on February 20 in the abandoned building near the Janatha Cooperative building in Bengaluru’s Sampangi Rama Nagara. Police officers visited the site and moved the body to the hospital. The postmortem report confirmed that the woman had been raped before her death.
Following a preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the woman died from the fall. CCTV footage in the area led the police to detain Mubarak, who later confessed during interrogation to murdering the woman by pushing her from the building. The investigation by the Sampangi Rama Nagara Police is ongoing to identify the woman.
