Mohammad Chand arrested for brutal killing of Janjatiya Hindu youth during a goat theft attempt: Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh

In a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked the Janjatiya Hindu community of Gersa village in the Sitapur region of Surguja, 24-year-old Mohammad Chand, a known habitual offender from Bimda village (Bagicha police station, Jashpur district), has been arrested for the cold-blooded murder of a young Hindu man, Raidu Nagvanshi, during a violent theft operation.

Targeted attack in a Hindu village during goat theft

As per Naidunia, on the night of 7 May 2025, miscreants broke into the home of Raidu Nagvanshi, a member of the Nagvanshi Janjatiya Hindu community, with the intent to steal livestock. The attackers forcibly entered the house by breaking the wooden door while the family was asleep. When Raidu and his mother, Tilaso Bai, resisted the robbery attempt and tried to protect their goats, the criminals responded with brutal violence.

Raidu was mercilessly beaten on the head with sticks and wooden planks, leading to his death on the spot. His mother was also severely injured in the attack. Despite the brutal assault, the attackers stole four to five goats before fleeing the village.

Habitual criminal with Islamist identity arrested

The investigation gained momentum when police received credible intelligence that Mohammad Chand, who had been previously detained in an unrelated case by Jashpur Kotwali police, had confessed to the Gersa murder during interrogation. His involvement was confirmed, and he has since been formally arrested and produced in court.

Shockingly, the Ertiga vehicle used to transport the stolen goats and flee the scene had already been seized in a previous criminal case, further highlighting the dangerous criminal background of Chand. Authorities have confirmed that multiple criminal cases are already registered against him across various police stations.

Other accused still at large

The police have identified several accomplices involved in the heinous act, but they remain at large. A manhunt is underway, and officials have expressed confidence in apprehending the remaining accused soon.

The Sitapur police team, led by Inspector Gaurav Kumar Pandey, along with ASI Ramkaran Rajwade and constables Nirmal Yadav, Dhanyakeshwar Yadav, Vinayak Lakra, and Ramesh Vishwakarma, played a commendable role in swiftly solving this case and ensuring the arrest of the main accused.

This incident has raised serious concerns among the Janjatiya Hindu population of Chhattisgarh. There is growing outrage over the increasing pattern of organized theft, violent crimes, and targeted attacks in remote Hindu-dominated villages, often perpetrated by Islamist criminals. Why are such elements freely operating in Janjatiya belts? In Chhattisgarh, multiple cases have emerged where Janjatiya Hindu girls are being systematically targeted by Islamist elements for conversion under the guise of love jihad. Why is there a repeated pattern of violence when Hindu families try to protect their livelihood? The murder of Raidu Nagvanshi is not an isolated case; it reflects a deeper failure to protect indigenous Hindu communities from systematic criminal targeting by the Islamists.

  1. Why this type of murderers are not subjected to summary trial on the spot by the security personnel? They must be liquidated in ‘encounter’.
